Im writing this looking for advice for a friend of mine. I just want to see if other people understand where I am coming from.
A friend of mine has a boyfriend. She claims that she is in love with him and she would do anything for him. (I suppose she also meant she would do anything including give him her happiness as well.) She doesnt seem like the same happy jolly person that she use to be. She lost sight of who she was and who she said she wanted to be.
At first, things were fine. He stopped by an dropped off roses, left cards on her door step, just because. He gave her the best of compliments, comment her on her clothes and her hair, even her shoes. You dont find a lot of guys that does that. She loved the fact that he would look her into her eyes and kiss her in public. She never had someone do those things. He gave her what ever she needed. I actually thought that he was everything that she was looking for.
She even saw pictures of other girls in his phone. The pictures were of girls that had on little or no clothing. She didnt pay any attention to it because she continued recieving cards, and the kisses of her dreams. I saw things that she didnt. When you look at a situation from the outside in, things appear to you more clearer. He started blowing her off for his friends, and he hardly ever kissed her anymore. He payed other girls more attention and seldom did her ever even call her at night. She said that it was because he was becoming popular. I could see the look in her eye that he had hurt her.
She loved him so much that she didnt want to let him go. I cant speak for him and say that he didnt like/love her too but from the looks of it he didnt seem to have as much interest and affection as she did.
Like the true friend I am, I told her that the way that he was treating her was unacceptable. Ofcourse she blew me off but why stay with someone that flirts with other girls in your face and doesnt even pay you any attention. Most of all he disrespected her. Respect is the most important element in a relationship to me. Most people think that it is trust.
If you were in the situation would you stay with him/her or would you leave? Love could play a big role in this situation but why stay in a relationship when your love is being taken for granted. Shes stuck in the past. She and I didnt have a boyfriend in the past and I guess she afraid to go back to that. But I guess she didnt realize that being single was way less painful!!!
