My name is Dane.  I live near the Mountains with my wife, step-son and cats.  

I have been a writer for a long time, though never published, I write for the love of it.  I write because it is as important to me as breathing.   I don't claim to be a great writer -- not by a long shot -- but I do claim to love to write.

A note about Duke Ellington and Creativity:

 

Late in Duke Ellington's illustrious career he was nearly blind and often confined to a bed.  Still, he kept several pads of paper next to his bed and several pencils.  He wrote music, making the notes large enough he could see them even with his poor eyesight.  Once a day, at least, he would go to his piano and work out the problems with his new music.  When he couldn't get up he had a close friend play the music for him while Ellington made changes on paper.   

 

This represents the real heart of creativity.  Ellington never quit trying to create.  When music changed, he lead the charge to change with it.  Though he continued to tour with his Orchestra, Ellington made numerous recordings with much smaller groups, always the innovator.  His music has remained vital and influential and will continue to inspire and thrill musicians and audio-philes for years to come.
