Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit, I fell in love with poetry in grade five when we read "Song Of Hiawatha" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Long poem, we had to memorize some of it and I loved saying Gitche Gumee, lol.
I have been writting poems since then, though I didn't start keeping them until I was fifteen. At fifteen I started writing fiercely, reading poetry by others and saving some of them as well. Sometimes a poem speaks to you more than you can speak to yourself. I have read many such poems here, thank you.
I am a mother to three amazing adults and have five beautiful grandchildren. A cat named after Thomas O'Malley the alley cat, from the Aristro Cats but we just call him Mel.
My Thanks for Seasons
I have played in snow
I have been warmed by the sun
I’ve danced in the rain
I have tasted lots of chocolate
played in the mud
splashed in the muddles
I have seen the milky way
I have tried to count the stars
while living in the country
I‘ve lived in the country
I have caught fireflies
I’ve run through a meadow
where wild flowers grow
I have stopped to smile the roses
I’ve played on a summers day
jumped on a trampoline
I have planted a garden
I have climbed a tree
I've planted a tree
I have stood on a mountain
I’ve swam in the ocean
seen an awesome sunrise
and breath taking sunsets
I’ve jumped from a swing
I have laughed so hard I cried
and cried so hard I thought I'd die
I have laid in the sun
watched the clouds drift by
I have taken a trip.
to a place I always wanted to go
I have seen the brilliant colour of autumn
I have seen the northern lights
dancing in the night sky
I have ridden a horse
I’ve hugged a bull calf
Ate some mighty fine steak
I have baked a birthday cake
I have sung to a child
I’ve sang just because
I have given birth to a child
I’ve held a newborn baby
other then my own three
I have been blessed with grandchildren
I’ve received a dozen red roses
I have danced unaccompanied
and even with a partner
I've known a true friend
and even false friends
I've known joy
and I have known sorrow
I have kissed and been kissed
I've loved and been in love
and I have been loved
I have forgave
and I have been forgiven
For all this and more
This is my Thanksgiving.
