The year was 1988; an icy January frisked a small, fragile town in southern Canada, and a wee babe cried in a hospital, demanding to be fed. Soon this howling lass would be transformed into a spectacularly over-dramatic bio-writer, weaving tales of love, mystery and - above all - fantasy by the light of her computer screen. Of course, such grand designs can only come with time and, at present, she manages only the poetry and short stories which you find before you, along with extraordinary amounts of engineering homework, and nursing the dream that, someday, she will see her name on a shelf.
