I consider this to be my webpage, so if it's a bit long, forgive me.
To tie the real to the internet: my name is Danica West. The name "Danica" means morning star in Slavic. It's also the Latin name for Denmark.
On here, I've also been known as cinnathepoet (reference to the play Julius Caesar) and onewhoisalreadydead (in my emo teenage days). The name iamlost came from me being lost among poetry sites on the web (until I found allpoetry), not depression.
My AP family:
I have my little sister squirrelgirl, (my cousin in real life) who it seems has undertaken the quite daunting feat of commenting on every poem I have on here.
I have my (real life) mom Welshbard, who I finally forced to get an account here for all her SCA and filk songs.
I also forced Rukia-neesan (my real life sister) to join, mostly so she can comment on my poems.
But I know she writes poems occasionally.
I also have my AP twin Willowhaunt, who I have so much in common with it's scary, seeing as we've never met in person.
And now I have my other little cousin Tyto, who is new on the site. Yay, expansion to my family!
About me being too creative:
As referenced by my page, I'm always writing a plethora of poems. I also work a lot on novels, short stories, and fanfic. I've been in a writing group basically since I was born, and both of my parents are published authors, so it comes in the blood, I suppose.
This also made me a natural grammar nazi, so be warned!
Along with this, I also try to write 50,000 words in one month, every November for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). 2008 was my first year, and I made it to 50,000 a week early!
I love to draw, especially bird girls and oddly twisted forms. I'm constantly trying to improve, and I hope soon I can draw some things that are good enough to sell. I'm also learning to paint by taking a watercolor class this semester.
Here's the first thing I've ever done in watercolor. I sketched it off a stuffed bunny the teacher had set up.
I also love to take photographs. I'm doing a photoblog this year, called my eyes of 2009, which goes along with project 365, where you're supposed to take one picture each day (on hiatus).
I'm quite musical: I love to sing and I'm learning to play the guitar, and I want to learn to play piano. I've also written some songs for the guitar, some of which I've posted under my songs list. I'm in a singing group called U.F.O. (Utah Filk Organization), where we sing lots of Science Fiction and Fantasy pieces. We do at least two concerts a year, at CONduit and Mountain Con.
I also love to crochet. Right now I'm in the middle of a making a giant orange sweater (orange is my favorite color), and I'm working on making wings and other things to sell on my etsy store. My username is crochetedwings if you want to check me out.
I also really love to sculpt, but I haven't been able to take a ceramics class lately, so not much has been happening in that department.
So, pretty much, my right brain dominates my entire skull, with my left brain residing somewhere around my nostrils.

This is me, wearing a hat I crocheted. My hair is usually this color.
I figured out how I want to write my name in Kanji the other day, and I actually have two different versions.
The first is
which means man squid. This is because I often act like a guy
and squid has been my nickname since I was little (a mix of squirt and kid that kind of evolved).
The second is
which basically means dawn, little sister, and write/draw. This is my "real" name because it fits perfectly. Danica means morning star (dawn), I identify a lot by being the little sister in the family, and I love to draw and write.
My hair is a constant source of amusement for me. It's usually short and bright red, like in the picture above, but at times it's been seen as black, gold, orange, pink, purple, and even shaved. I'm a pale little vampire with sharp little canines and bright blue eyes.
My birthday is on the thirteenth of April, so if you want to give me a present by reading my poems and commenting, I'd be happy! Or, to be completely shameless, my etsy favorites are good to peruse. . . (hint hint
)
I am a proud member of The Poetic Bandits, The Blue Lamp Post, and Forms Forms and More Forms.

My heart feels most at home when thinking about Wales, though anything to do with Ireland, Scotland, or the world of the old makes me wish I could just sprout wings and fly over there. Rain, forests, green landscapes, and ruins do the same thing for me. Since I was very young, my greatest dream was (and is) to be stolen away by faeries.

We have new kittens at my house! They're so cute! I named them Severus and Albus (yes, I'm a Harry Potter nerd too).
This is a picture I took of Albus which I think is exceptionally cute.
More about me:
First up, I love Emilie Autumn. She's amazing. I get to see her live on November 2 (so excited!!). She inspires me when nothing else will.
I love to DDR, I finally upgraded my mats to some nice foam ones, cause I'd literally torn the old ones apart with my crazy dance steps. I can get A's and B's on most songs on standard or heavy, so I'm pretty good for a bouncy white girl, if I do say so myself. Speaking of video games, I also love playing Fatal Frame and God of War. I am the mighty Kratos! I also play World of Warcraft now. Sigh. My friend Sam finally convinced me to set up an account, and now I'm hooked.
I love sci fi shows, like Stargate (SG-1 and Atlantis), Babylon 5, Firefly, Dr. Who, etc. I've also been going to sci fi conventions since I was still in the womb! Consequently, I am a major nerd, especially about Stargate. I have such a Jack O'Neill obsession.
I love Japanese and consequently love anime and manga. Bleach is currently my favorite anime, but I like a bunch of others too.
On that note, I also love the game Slime Forest Adventure , which is a game you can download to work on your kana/kanji. I'm learning more and more kanji by the day, and it's addictively fun!
I'm a yaoi fangirl
(yaoi is boys' love). Junjou Romantica is my favorite yaoi anime. I've posted several yaoi fanfics I've written (as well as a few not yaoi) on fanfiction.net , under the username yaoi4dd1ct . Read them if you have the time and are into that kind of thing, although I warn you, I can be terrible about updating.
I am in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) where we pretend we're in medieval times. My SCA name is Gwenhyfar filia Aelfric . My device--coat of arms--is Azure, a bend sinister between a bull rampant contourny and a bull passant argent . I'm in the kingdom of Artemesia, in the barony of Loch Salann (Salt Lake).

I'm pagan, meaning I believe in and worship the power of nature and the earth, though I have a strong Christian background, and I do believe in God (and the Goddess!). Yes, this means I do rituals in my backyard, and go to church for Easter and Christmas.
I consider myself to be highly spiritual, and not necessarily religious. My favorite goddess is my pagan namesake, Ceridwen , and my predominant symbol is, like hers, the pentacle.
I'm also a firm believer in the supernatural, and should be, as my house is haunted with several kitty ghosts and one big swirly ghost in my basement. I'm also sensitive to ghosts and spirits, and can feel if something is near. And lately I've gotten together with a ghost hunting group (basically friends and family); we'll hopefully have a site up sometime that I can link to. We've gone on a couple excursions, and I got some good pics, so I'm happy.
I'm a huge support of gay rights and equality as well. I find aspects of both sexes attractive and am interested in personality more than gender. I've also become quite political, basically since I joined the GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) back when I was in high school and started lobbying the Utah legislature against unfair bills targeting the gay community. Also since I was an extemper in debate and took AP government (I got a five on the exam!).
I'm very liberal, not quite a radical, but still pretty far to the left. I was in the New York Times in an article about the GSA, link is here . I'm the center one in the picture, though I don't know why the photographer picked that picture, since we all look really weird.
I love my kitty. His name is Phantom. I tell everyone he's my husband.

The list I'm keeping for my own OCD purposes of which of my poems have won trophies has grown too big for my page, so I'm putting it in column form to make my page a little easier on the eyes, but so it is still accessible.

I had a bout of sleep paralysis again last night. This has only happened to me 3 or 4 times that I remember, and only in the past two years. The weird thing about it is that it never happens anywhere but in my room in the basement, and there's always a cat that comes and sits next to me in the second half of the para
