HoeftraShow poetry

A writer all of my life. Moist sandboxes are great for leaving notes to the little girls in kindergarten. Even if they were tromped out the moment feet arrived. I have written my way through a life that seems eternal. I see a scholar who chronicalled the Greek Senate from within, a traveler documenting far voyages to exotic places, a tinkerer making notes of forgotten inventions, all long ago times and places. Before that, even, a story teller who made his place among peoples with his verbal songs for his place among them. Or a vagabond troubadoor romping hills with songs on his tongue for one sweet girl or another. In modern times I have been a newspaper reporter, copy editor, promotion director, newsletter maker, editor, free-lance business writer, prolific if uneven poet, and now, novelist. I will always be a writer. If word processors ceased functioning, if manual typewriters were all beaten to junk by my heavy hands, I would write on the cave walls left to me or pound words in stone. In the end, I would draw figures in the sand. HOEFTRA

To "quibble" is to carp, grouse, find fault, or draw hairs of distinction in others arguments. This is not that kind of quibble. I give you a new definition of quibble, my own. Quibble (verb) irrevant discussions of the trivial or mundane to the startlin
