The picture is with my best guy friend, Adam Koster (who is the sweetest guy ever!) who escorted me to my high school senior Prom in June of 2005. (To see it after the membership expires, go here: ca.profiles.yahoo.com/hartofsilver_k)

I'm Kayla Hart. I chose my user name as a play off of my last name. You may wonder why I didn't choose hartofgold. Well, although gold is worth more, I like silver better. I own more silver jewelery, and it's a lot softer looking and prettier to me, so I prefer to be hartofsilver than hartofgold, plus, "heart of gold" is far too well known, I didn't want to be too cliche.
I feel I can best be described by the speech I made in our local pageant, so here it is:
storywrite.com/poem/780515
That speech is where my motto, or quote (whatever the sentence that appears with my comments is called) came from. Everyone who reads this should take a minute and comment, telling me what would be on their charm bracelet

I like to call myself a published author.
I wrote rememberance poems separately for both of my Grandparents to put in the newspaper, which I posted here:
Grandma: allpoetry.com/Poem/398351
Grandpa: allpoetry.com/Poem/783272
I wrote an article for the school newsletter: allpoetry.com/Story/261652
One of my poems appeared in my grade 10 yearbook (2003): allpoetry.com/Poem/221884
and I wrote a weekly news column for our city newspaper about what was going on at my school every week of my senior year.
I was also chosen "Most likely to become a poet or writer" out of the grade 10's (also in 2003) and I won an English award at my school that year as well. My teacher had a list of 8 of us that she had to narrow down to 4, and I got one of those 4 awards, so that made me feel really nice.
I am currently attending the College of the Rockies with the hope of transfering to the University of Victoria (British Columbia) next year for the last 3 years of a 4-year degree in their writing department and an optional 1 year diploma in editing.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
My OBSESSIONS:
1. *Joan of Arcadia* (Believe me, anyone at my school could identify me as the "girl who's obsessed with Joan of Arcadia".)
2. Clay Aiken
3. Kris Lemche and Ryan Gosling (HOT Canadian actors!!)
4. Valley of the Dolls
5. Writing (but I'm sure you could tell by the fact that I'm on allpoetry)

Weeping willow with your tears running down
Why do you always weep and frown?
Is it because he left you one day?
Is it because he could not stay?
On your branches he would swing
Do you long for the happiness that day would bring?
He found shelter in your shade
You thought his laughter would never fade...
Weeping willow stop your tears
There is something to calm your fears...
You think death has ripped you forever apart
But I know he'll always be in your heart...
~Vada Sultenfuss (My Girl, 1991)
~~~~~~~~~~
You and me
we used to talk
like a river underground,
the sewer where we used to walk.
A hole at the end
empties out to the pier
where paper boats disappear.
Me, I try to send this note
float it like a paper boat
but paper sinks and words are weak,
I try, but I don't speak.
~Grace Polk (Joan of Arcadia, Season 1, 2004)
