Welcome to my site! My name is Matt Harris, and the person brightening up my photo is my wife, Pam. She has put up with me for 24 years! She is my co-author of life and best friend. When I write poetry, I always think in terms of writing a book. I like to explore and focus on a subject, or a theme, until it turns into a manuscript. I have written 2 books of poetry so far, POEMS ON SOME PARABLES OF CHRIST and SONNETS FOR MESSIAH. You will find them both in their entirety in the "My List" section below. I want readers to have free access to them, even if they choose not to buy them. Jesus has freely given them to me as gifts, and I want to freely share them. If anyone wishes, though, to purchase the actual books, they are available at www.harrispoems.com or you can email me at www.harrispoems@verizon.net
Below is an article that was written about me and my books. I am living my dream. My Lord Jesus has given me the desires of my heart. Be Blessed!

Pasadena: Local author celebrates 2nd book

By KELLEY LEMONS, For the Maryland Gazette

Matt Harris originally planned to become a counselor, but after taking an English class at Anne Arundel Community College while working to achieve that goal, he found he enjoyed reading and writing poetry. Harris said, "I felt that the Lord wanted me to write poetry."
Harris answered that calling and has since published two books of Biblical poetry - the more recent, "Sonnets for Messiah," was released in May (2009). He published his first book in 2007, seven years after beginning his journey in writing on his 40th birthday. "Poems on Some Parables of Christ" is based on the parables of Christ in the New Testament. "Sonnets for Messiah" has 100 sonnets based on the first coming of Jesus. "The Lord has given me the poetry to express his message of salvation," Harris said.
Harris, who is legally blind since the age of 21, was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a progressive degenerative disorder of the retina that can cause a profound loss of vision. Even with his disability, he keeps himself very active. Married with two daughters ages 9 and 13, he and his wife, Pam, own and operate All God's Children Childcare, which recently moved to Hogneck Road.
He still finds time to give poetry readings and holds Christian poetry workshops at Grace Baptist Church to teach others how to write sonnets using scripture. He is currently working on his third book regarding the second coming of Christ.

For details about his book, visit www.harrispoems.com or e-mail harrispoems@ verizon.net.
