Hardluck• Show poetry

Hi Friends,

 

   I'd like to start by saying, I'm not a poet. I guess I have never wrote a poem in my life, but I'm willing to try anything once. I do how-ever like to read poetry and have read many of yours. I think that some are very good, some I don't really understand, and some that may be over my head. I would welcome any comment you may have on what I write. Don't be afraid to be honest, I'm not easily offended, so don't be afraid to let me have it.

 

   I'm from a small town in the Southeastern USA, Vidalia, Georgia, you may have heard of it, we are kind of famous for the sweet onion (Vidalia Sweet Onions). I'm proud to be from Georgia, even though some people may pick on us a little bit.

 

   I've lived my whole life in Vidalia where as a youth I picked Tobacco, worked in the onion fields, cut grass, and any other odd job I could find. At the age of 16 I went to work with my Uncle doing Heating and Air Conditioning work, putting AC units in homes in the area. I did this until I was 26, at witch time I got sick of eating dirt and insulation, so I went to Truck Driving School in 1987. I drove a truck until a few month ago.

 

   In June of 2003 I have a heart attack, so I have open heart surgery, four by-passes. Well I did okay untill November 2007 when I had another heart attack, another stent and I'm back agin. But I just didn't want to die somewhere on the road, in a truckstop by myself. So I've been trying to get some help, but this is a fight.

 

   I have two daughters, 22 and 19. My oldest daughter has two little girls, so I have two grandaughters, 3 and 2. I'm very proud of my family, and those grandkids are the light of my life.

 

   Well I guess you think I'm a bit long winded, and have said enough about myself, so I will close. You don't give yourself enough credit my friend, a true poet writes from their heart. I can feel your love for writing in your words, so plz keep writing! lol and thank you for being my friend!

    Ah.. another Georgia poet. I live near FT. Benning. Was born there. Moved around a bit but always ended up back here. I am a Georgia girl wherever I am.
