 Native American Woman

We are like a whisper carried on the wind
we will tell you stories of our lives and ways
 ways that many have forgotten

It is our way to stand tall and proud
to wear the colors of the rainbow
to give praise to Mother Earth and Father Sun

We stand by our warriors and hold our heads high
we raise our young in the old ways of the past
 we teach them to be straight as an arrow

We wear our sorrows like a comfortable shawl
 do not falter but sing loud and true
we follow the path of the grandmothers before us

We are the Native American Woman
hear our songs and prayers
feel our pride Author notes

This is dedicated to all Native American Women, but especially to my AP sis Cheryl (guardianhost) who has shown me so much respect and honor.

down the hall
and the scent of her still lingers
here
the taste of her
still
warm and sweet on me
the sound of her
dulcet and captured
and still swimming
to my thoughts
of then
hair dark and silken
to frame that face
for me
and  those eyes
set in the shape
of paradise
before that sweet kiss

I lay in the warmth of her now
sheets still shaped
of her
feeling the life
needing the touch of her
again
she talked of cedar pine
and blue heron and reed and grass
the everglades seemed near
and of course
her Florida skies
that brightened these rooms
to the science of fishing
and family
and to this friendship
and home
and us
wrapped
inside the boundless exchange
of books and song
and the great unknown

and of our existence
to this point
in time
and God
were things to come
as we returned
to ourselves
and that embrace
knew of our time
so travelled
and so fast
then to her skin and lace
I moved
kindly
and she welcomed me
as pure as honey
tight into the lines of her physiche
and the blessed shape of her
that reclined like a spirit
re-discovered
in this life
slipping effortlessly into earthly habits

that moment moved
to our first caress
and
hammered my heart
ears drumming
their pulse
and blood coursed it's flood
heart pounding bone
as electric charged our senses
and we were
skin to skin
within the slow undress of us
time seemed
not existing
her smooth and soft
and glistening
move to flesh
from lace
un-buttoned
to silken sun-kissed limb
where our tongues found touch
and journeyed us
each and one
north and to south
and the east and west
of us
moving
moist and warm
with fingers probed
and drawn between
a tenderness of lips
inch by perfect inch
to thigh
and to toes
and blossomed bud
as we slowed to concentrate
this thing unfurled
