In today's world where the Christian is tested and tempted more than ever, I feel that we are so often intimidated by the world around us, and end up falling into hypocrisy because of it. We go to church and are taught to love, but then we go out into the streets and feel it our "divine duty" to be better than non-believers. Then we use that belief to justify humiliating, judging, and hurting those around us who simply need to hear the message of God's love and unconditional forgiveness.
Yet, in the midst of this, there are those who see through the mask of hypocrisy to the reality that we (Christians) are no better than anyone else. In fact we are called to be servants. We are called to do as Jesus did and wash the feet of people around us. Not literally, of course, but symbolically.
This group is dedicated to spreading the love of Jesus Christ and bringing unbelievers to Him in a modern, not-convicting way. We will be active in posts and in discussing the problems that face us in our walk with Christ. We will also give loving and non-judging advice to those who ask. In your application, please put what the above scripture means to you.
In case you are interested, this is the story of why I started this group. I have been in several other Christian groups that claimed to be accepting and loving, but they weren't. Instead of edifying, they brought others down, and instead of spreading the news of Jesus' forgiveness, they proudly bragged about how they went around condemning people that day. It hurt my heart deeply to listen to that kind of hypocrisy, and I determined that there should be a place where love abounds and no question is laughed at or made fun of. Why? Because that's not what Jesus would do. Christian means Christ-follower. I intend to follow the example laid down by Christ...and love.
