Safety within this shallow bowl
Bound by chains that connect the whole
For what once was could never be
A dream of hope's epiphany
Freedom restrained by postern gates
Invisible yet grey as slate
The key within an unturned lock
Sends shivers through a frightened flock
The past will never come again
The future; just a vision when
Beyond the fear that locks the door
A mystery forever more
The opening not how, but when
For guarding it is fearful men
Afraid of what? They cannot say
The swelling crowd will have its way
Like angels on a joyful flight
Dance in newfound wonder's delight
A path untrod beyond the gate
Discovery; no time to waste
Together bravely in the night
From nothingness to shining light
For once the step is taken, yay
The wild windswept can lead the way
Thoughts try to raise the terror's veil
When solar winds are caught by sail
Set to an adventuring heart
So journey's stopped again can start
Look to a new horizon's shroud
Stand tall with shoulders broad and proud
Set sights on the explorer's star
Travel upon the future's hark
