Welcome to my small corner of AP. Out of the multitude of aspiring poets on the the site you chose to look a little more closely at me...you're such a peeping tom!!! (Just kidding) I am overwhelmed by the talented people that post their works on AP. Thank you for making me feel very welcome since I have been here, and a big thank you to all of my fellow writers for their kind and valuable input on my writing.



I live in the beautiful Great Smoky Mtns. of North Carolina (USA). Surrounded by some of the most incredible natural scenery in the world how can I not be moved to write poetry?

I enjoy reading all kinds of literature. My favorite forms of poetry to write are haiku and senryu. Discovering and attempting to write new forms of poetry (or at least new to me) is a passion.

Older Brother

Fight off the bully's

Protect me from the bad guys

Teach me new things

Fight with me

Cross examine all the guys I fall in love with

Just to make sure they are right

Laugh with me til we're blue

Cry with me til I can no longer cry

I just thought I'd say

Thanks for being my older brother

Acquainted with the Night

I have been one acquainted with the night.

I have walked out in rain -- and back in rain.

I have outwalked the furthest city light.



I have looked down the saddest city lane.

I have passed by the watchman on his beat

And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.



I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet

When far away an interrupted cry

Came over houses from another street,



But not to call me back or say good-bye;

And further still at an unearthly height,

A luminary clock against the sky



Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.

I have been one acquainted with the night.
