I am not a conventional Poet. I mostly write in free Verse. I like a poem to 'make sense', to scan, and not to be 'awkward' in presentation. I sometimes rhyme, but when I do I insist that the rhymes must fit nicely and not be at all 'strained'
My Poetry is published on three sites including this one, and I have had a few poems published in Anthologies.
I am an Old Man, and I know it all too well. Inside I am still 10 years old, and will probably remain so because I managed to miss out on my childhood somewhat.
When I reveiew other peoples work, I try to be diplomatic, but I will not lie and say something is good if it is absolutely dire. I do not believe that I am doing the poet any favours in doing that. On one of the other sites that holds my poetry, there are a large number of people who write absolute drivel and then reveiew each others work and enthuse about it and award each othe top marks so that they all are top ranked poets who write illiterate mis-spelled empty meaningless tripe. Thats why I have come here in hopes of finding something different.

NotaDeadPoet on October 25, 2006George,
i have been away for many of the same reasons--but being old is not one of them. I, too, am a grandfather, and I am a father as well. My eldest is 32 and a parent of two; my youngsters are ten and thirteen. When my girl gets her HS diploma, I will be in my seventies, but they do bring out the youth in me. My writing persists in whatever ageless vein my mind contrives. I do not act my age. I let my life run with the wind throughout whatever adventures it chooses. Keep your mind and youth alive through the experience of your age and do not let it get in the way of living your life.

Check my poetry to get insight into who I am. Remember, I am the one who corrected much of your comma-itis tendencies?

Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you and your family on this Mother's day. Stay safe my friend...close your eyes...she is there, feel your heart, for that is where you keep your Mother safe now.
Blessings,

Terri Norris on March 23, 2006George,
I must say, I am very, very touched by "As You Passed", now I read on your Author page that you consider leaving this site?!? From one old timer to another...Please Stay. Nuff said on that.
To be with your Mother when she passed, how beautiful. Now some may not view it that way, but I think you understand. My brother was 44 years old, and the Doc told us, my 2 sisters, my Mother and I, that it was time to tell him it was okay to go. So we held him, sang to him, and let him know that we would love him for the rest of our lives...but that it was ok, our time on Earth was done, and what a RIDE it was! For those of us that have had to do this, to hold onto the body of someone we love so dearly, and tell them it is okay, to hold them thru their last journey...we are true Soldiers George. I wish for you all the peace and understanding in this world, for now, by the Grace of your Mother, and God, may you see a rainbow when you feel dark, may you hear a bird sing when you feel alone, may you see a young child laugh when you feel old, tired and weary. My email is mrsannien@yahoo.com, feel free to communicate with me, I am about 5 months ahead of you with this grief...a journey I am still trying to understand and embrace.
Peace and Love,
Terri Norris
