I am a 25 year old man from Hamrun, Malta, that is all that is worth mentioning about my life and it may have too much as well.I use the term 'from' Hamrun loosely for all it does is designate where I sleep, in truth I am from nowhere and I am going nowhere.Where else is there to go? No matter how hard we plan or aim thats where we always end. When I was young I wished to be a veterinerian because I wanted to be close to and help animals, but fate had other plans. Now I find myself working day in day out on the same desk, same hours in a small factory.Which suits me, there is nothing to worry about here and money is coming in, enough to survive. This may all sound pessimistic but it is not, for being nothing is not as bad as it may sound.Being nothing is everything; did Jesus not embrace being made into nothing on the cross so he may rise to give us everything? To have everything or even to aim for it, posseses too many hassles and lead to regrets.Who is the worse off; he who has everything and always wants more or he who has nothing but is content with nothing?
As for my poetic influences, there aren't too many too mention. For me poetry is just a way of escaping, I have no interest in its pioneers and its history because for me poetry is Mine and no one elses. There is one poet who is close to being an inspiration and that is acclaimed Maltese poet Mario Azzopardi. When I began writing poetry I thought it had to be a mathematical equation like a shakespearean sonnet, but Azzopardi's free verse and liberal writing showed me how emotions can really flow in poetry rather than being regimented.

My Poetry

Why can't I see what John The Revelator saw?
Rhyming numbers and dead whores -
The cisk trickling down the square tables
Hunger for my thirst, which promises hourly sensations. -
He could have been a criminal or a priest
(Either act or cause) -
With the freedom of old youth
And made stories out of epitaphs.29 lines, 11 comments, February 10. In Other
