I am a mother of 3 girls and I am an Intensive Care Unit nurse. I see death and dying everyday, I see kids come in my unit from a drug OD and live on ventilators with tubes sticking out of every opening in their body as their family stands there weeping. I have held too many parents in my arms as their child dies. Others we help, we fix them, we send them on their way....until the next week. I never understood the pain or power of addiction....I couldnt understand how after a brush with death, after the torment they caused their family, they "choose" to use again.....until now.
I have always been a writer but i only began a try at poetry after no longer knowing how to deal with my brother's heroin addiction and my close friend's cancer diagnosis. This has become my therapy...

I can relate closely to most of what you write and know how painful and frustrating it is to go through.
