The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award is now open for entries until July 31st 2009! This is the premier competition for poets aged 11-17, accepting entries from March to July each year. It has its own page at http://www.poetrysociety.org.uk/content/competitions/fyp

The Poetry Society actively promotes the top young poets who come out of this competition. We do this through putting their names out to festival and event programmers, introducing them to other areas of our work, and commissioning them to contribute to our Young Poet Pages: http://www.poetrysociety.org.uk/content/membership/youth/ypp/

New anthologies are now available, featuring poems by the best fifteen Foyle Young Poets of the Year 2008.

FYP is about what you want to write. So you can enter poems written in class, or poems you've written at home, from exercises or from your own imaginings. You can enter poems on any theme, and of any length, and in any shape you like.

Entry is completely free and you can enter as many poems as you want.
