I don't find it easy to write poetry unless I write about something that has deeply affected my life. I often write about social issues around my work and life, about inequality, greed and cruelty (some of my pet hates) or about my beautiful family or someone or something that has just touched my life in a special way. I, therefore, find it hard to write for contests unless the topic is something I can relate to.
When I am not writing I work in the field of Human Resources. Having to deal with people's problems all day may be the reason I often escape into the world of allpoetry. I am also the mum to my three beautiful boys (9, 13 and 50 something). I spend a good deal of time as a taxi driver as both my boys are heavily involved in sport.
The things I love to do; listen to music, watercolour painting, framing; reading - mostly historical and biographies, and walking (to clear my head) and stay fit.
The simple things in life are what makes my life speical.
I have got to a stage where I am happy with what I am and where I am - the path that brought me here has enriched my life with experiences of all kinds. I have always been a bit of an adventurer and a wanderer having lived in several different countries. I often wonder why I need to write poetry at this stage in my life.
I was born in Scotland but have lived half my life in Australia (mainly Melbourne) I am now living in Brisbane.
This site has added another dimension to my life and I look forward to my regular visits, thanks AP for making this possible.
Thanks to everyone who reads my poetry, your comments are so much appreciated. As a complete amateur, who has never studied poetry or written anything before 9 months ago, I am thrilled to actually win some tropheys - thanks to all who believe my work is worthy of mention.
