I am currently a graduate student at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. I got my BA in English (2001) in Belarus. As you may know, this is the country which is often referred to as the last dictatorship in Europe. I have written poetry since early childhood. My poems appeared in magazines “Arche”, “Land”, “Young Moon” (Belarus); newspapers “Belarus” (USA), “Our Land”, “Our Word”.
I became a contributor of several poetry books, published in Belarus.
My poetry is often a pure stream of consciousness or a word game, but often it alludes to my previous or current life experiences, like Belarusian dictatorship or Ukrainian orange revolution, which I was lucky to be an eyewitness of.
I like traveling and meeting new people, but most frequently I get to write when I'm alone, feel sad. Then, people say, I create at my fullest.
