Diamond tearsShow poetry

This is one of my favorite poems that I have read this year.  It's in the book Poetry 180 and it's by Naomi Lazard.

Ordinance on Arrival

Welcome to you who have managed to get here.
It's been a terrible trip;
you should be happy you have survived it.
Statistics prove that not many do.
You would like a bath, a hot meal, a good night's sleep.
Some of you need medical attention.
None of this is available.
These things have always been in short supply;
Now they are impossible to obtain.
This is not a temporary situation;
It is permanent.
Our condolences on your dissappointment.
It is not our responsibility that everything you have heard
about this place is false.
It is not our fault you have been decieved,
ruined your health getting here.
For reasons beyond our control
there is no vehicle out.

This is kinda how I've been looking at life for a year or two now.  This is just such a perfect poem for me.  I hope you all like it too.

    Wow! I'm so happy you liked my contest poem that much, again, thanks for reading me, and I'm very grateful for the win!!! ~Smiles~

    Alittle Something In Return

    You made my day worth living
    For just this moment, you made me smile
    I've been running low on feeling
    Any good for quite awhile
    So I send a thanks from me to you
    That you will see I care
    For you have made my gray skies blue
    In my moment of dispair

    Much love and thanks again, and again! ~Smiles~
