I've only recently gotten into poetry. I also have written a few short stories. I've always had a knack for writing, but never really studied mechanics or anything, just English Comp I and II in college before I dropped out. If you like a challenge then enter as many of the contests that you can with new stuff,don't be dismayed or disheartened by the comments or lack thereof around here as most are on an ego trip to enlightenment(their own).
There are many good poets on here who will help and guide you in what it is you wish to do.
I don't have favourites of my own or anyones work as each piece to me is important to the creator in some way whether it be crap or pure brilliance.
