Hi. I'm Eric. I'm a structurist of long-standing, studying to learn free-verse, but not at all interested in minimalism or 'spontaneous utterance' poetry. I also see no poetic merit in swearing for the sake of swearing or any other 'shock-value' devices for no other purpose THAN shock value. (Sure...poetry is about emotions; if you can't elicit an emotion without having to resort to shock, how much of a poet can you be?) I believe in pushing the envelope in some cases, but some envelopes damn well don't need pushing, so don't come tell me that twenty-seven lines of un-metered gibberish is a damn sonnet!
I consider poetry a heritage, and every aspect of that heritage precious and valuable...and I believe that it is art. I believe that art takes training, discipline and talent...even free-verse. Recent developments in the poetic arts claim that everything called 'poem' must be considered a poem...but I do not and never will consider that to mean that it is, ipso facto, poetry.
I don't use, accept messages from or accept being put on "buddy-lists" involving any IM software. Feel free to email. If you don't have it, feel free to ask by IM.

Lady Mak on September 30Hallo Dericlee, just wanted to say that I do class you as a friend, I have a lot of respect for you and find you to be a fair man, I class you as someone I would and do trust.
As you know I am hopeless with computers altogether so if by some chance you don't hear from me,[regards your recent post in the forum] It will be because I am encountering difficulties getting through.
Take care, you are thought highly of, although perhaps we don't always agree you are fair and a trustworthy person, you are definately someone I trust.

Serenem : Hello, eric! from Melinda/Serenem on August 23I miss you more than I can say! I am very distressed to learn of your stroke-- I hope that you are doing better and hanging in there, my friend. I hope that Vicki is well.
I am doing ok, some health problems myself, but we don't need to go into that... I still write poetry but still don't have much access to the internet.
Seren is nearly 19 (on November 8th) and has started classes at a local college! She is a music major-- violin, viola, cello, piano and has just started on the guitar. She wants to compose music and is very interested in film scoring. She talks about you every so often and remembers you with much fondness-- as do I. I hope you see this.
I send so much love and good thoughts your way, eric.
