For most of my life, creative writing was never my forte. Dance was my method of expression. However, a couple of years ago someone inspired me to write, and I have continued to do so as a matter of catharsis. I have found it to be an extraordinary creative and emotive outlet. I write when the mood strikes.
I don't follow any particular style or structure. Often I don't use any structure at all. :-) My poems flow simply from my thoughts and emotions, in whatever form feels right. I am very straight forward, and so are my poems. I am learning and growing, and welcome constructive comments.
"I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am not your expectations, no.
I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am the soul that lives within."
~India Arie

My Poetry
-
Deep inside
Where the dark things lurk -
The things I desire in life
Are ever elusive -
The spark of life was once within me.
I held it in my womb and heart. -
Sadness and dissatisfaction attempt to settle in for the duration,
like an unwelcome house guest.
