I am a Agnostic Wiccan mommy(baptised catholic), South African. I am of irish, scottish, zulu, indian, british, khoi-san,xhosa descent. I am the Goddess Lillith, I am the Goddess Gaiea, I am The Goddess Diana, I am the Goddess Lakshmi.
My matriachal great-grandmother ran a tavern and was one of the first woman in Kimberly to leave her abusive husband(BIGGUP MAMMA). My Patriachal great-grandmother was a zuluu princess, the daughter of the chief of the rulling zulu tribe of Amzinto in Kwa-Zulu Natal who was the tenth wife of an Irish missionary to South Africa and Zimbabwe, Married to him after her 9 sisters had died childless in Zulu tradition, by her father who had great respect and admiration for her husband. During segregation, My grandmother and her siblings were taken away from their parents for being white and zulu-speaking. They were denounced as abominations and placed in an orphanage. During apartheid my grandparents and then, later their children were underground moles for the ANC since most of them passed for white and this resulted in my auntie and uncle having to go into exile to Australia. They have not yet returned. My father was durbans first coloured surfer, first coulred skater. My Uncle was durbans first coloured taxi driver (then exclusively Zulu). We are one of many coloured families who have royal zulu blood and have not been recognised as such. We are chiefs and princes and princesses and no-one cares to know it.
I dont know much about the rest of my family.
I am coloured and friggin proud of it. Coloured here does not mean the same as it does anywhere else in the world,,, or maybe it does. In SA coloureds are a very defined and legitimate ethnicity, not black or white. We are the step-children, unseen, unappreciated, not white enough before and not black enough after. We have no clearly defined culture of our own, we are borrowers. Borrowing from others' culture and the culture of the world. Check out www.bruin-ou.com to learn more of our fascinating people. Like it or not, though, we are the future world race and the answer to war, the solution, the revelation of peace.
Thank you for inspiring this Jenie,,,
