"There are two kinds of talents, man-made talent and God-given talent. With man-made talent you have to work very hard. With God-given talent, you just touch it up once in a while."
"Acting childish seems to come naturally, but acting like an adult, no matter how old we are, just doesn't come easy to us."
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness; it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity; it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness; it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair; we had everything before us, we had nothing before us; we were all going directly to Heaven, we were all going the other way."
"The key to the mystery of a great artist is that for reasons unknown, he will give away his energies and his life just to make sure that one note follows another . . . and leaves us with the feeling that something is right in the world."
"True art is characterized by an irresistible urge in the creative artist."
"I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are."
"Seek out that particular mental attribute which makes you feel most deeply and vitally alive, along with which comes the inner voice which says, 'This is the real me,' and when you have found that attitude, follow it."
"Work spares us from three evils: boredom, vice, and need”
"Your true traveller finds boredom rather agreeable than painful. It is the symbol of his liberty - his excessive freedom. He accepts his boredom, when it comes, not merely philosophically, but almost with pleasure.”
Options 7: Re-writing
Take the first poem you posted on here and rewrite it to how you look at it now. Please leave a link back to the first poem so that I can compare the two of them.
Options 8: Christmas poems
1. Tell about what gifts you want to be under the tree this year
2. Tell about the Christmas dinner you and your family will have
3. Tell about traditions in your family
4. Tell about how you decorated your home this weekend
5. Tell about what cookies and such you will bake
6. Tell us why you don't bake but buy your cookies
7. Tell about what gifts you have bought so far
8. What plans do you have this Christmas
9. Who will be there with you
10. Who would you wish to be there with you
Options 9: Challenge
Look around you and pick a object or happening that is happening right in this moment and write.
Options 10: The impossible
If you didn't find any inspiration from any of the abowe options then do not fear, I will allow you to write something YOU think I would adore. Of course, my friends and families have a benefit of knowing me well so they stand a better chance of winning in this option.
Now for the rules:
1. I will not tolerate any bashing of any kind to anyone or thing
2. I will not allow swearing
3. LABEL, kids will read this and some of the options are erotic.
4. Put your option in your Author Note please
5. Please take the time to press the "check spelling" button when you enter
6. Only one entry per options, that leaves you a total of 10 limited entries. You do not have to use them all but I do not want to see you post twice on the same option.
7. Play fair and be nice to the others who enter
Not rules but hints:
1. Comment on other's work, its a nice thing to do
2. Tell anyone who needs the point prize about the contests as I don't really need it all.
3. Have a good time, don't stress.
This contest will be open to over Christmas, so there is no stress at all. And the basic idea of this contest is that I will have something to look forward to when I get out of my surgery.
So if you want the point prize then give me a new defenition of outside the box thinking, and remember, I ain't looking at skills here.
Let us salute KayJay He donated a stunning 2000 points *huggle atacks*
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on January 5
- Rewards: Gold: 10000, Silver: 3000, Bronze: 3000
- Final notes: First off, I was both blown away with amaze and deeply disapointed.
I had to DQ a lot of entries after several warnings about silly things.
But I was also blown away by these beautiful poems. I spent all night and most of my class time trying to figure out who did the most "outside the box" thinking, and who followed the prompts perfectly.
The winner, Different. There was something within that weirdness that hit me and reminded me of myself, well done.
The second winner, Poured out, your poem idea was original but the way you made it all unique and special amazed me.
The third winner, Sarahs poem, you followed my prompt just as I told you to. And this short piece here was moving me deeply.
Now as I promised you all I will give away a gold or silver membership, but for now I will keep that a secret as I still quite haven't figured out who has earned it the most.
Since the top three winners won all these points I may just considering rewarding those who didn't cut it to the top list.
So keep your fingers crossed and I'll let you know as soon as I have made my decition.
Take care everyone, and thank you for this wonderfull adventure into your poetry land.
Merosa D
