'ku 'ku cachoo --enter your haiku here :)

Ok; so I have a haiku inspired contest going on as well, but by popular demand, I decided to

                             host a  strictly haiku contest.

Myron has written an article on haiku, if you have questions, take a look!

http://www.writinghood.com/Style/How-To/The-Truth-About-Haiku.83389

                           So, enter a haiku.

"A haiku is NOT just a pretty picture described in three lines of 5-7-5...it's about concision, perception, and awareness...the 5-7-5 syllable form is now mostly written by schoolchildren as an exercise to learn to learn how to count syllables, by beginners who know little about the true essence of haiku, or by those who just like to have a strict form with which to practice."  ---Cor van den Heuvel  (from The Haiku Anthology)

Here are some I love. They can be your inspiration, if you so fancy.

              warm spring day

              in the empty classroom

              a forgotten book

                                            --George Skane

ever since I was a child

         the moon

              following me home

                                       --Karen Sohne

             becoming a photograph    winter afternoon

                                                                      --George Swede

            A sigh from her

            then one from me-

            two pages turn

                                    --George Swede

           I stop to listen;

              the cricket

                  has done the same.

                                           --Arizona Zipper

1.] write me a haiku

2.] check grammar; that shouldn't be hard

3.] don't give me anything but your best

4.] max of 5 entries per person

5.] points WILL increase

have fun

~Pt

Well...I just don't have time (usually) to hold contests, and the ones I do usually don't get many entries. So I figured, why not? Besides, you're not the first one I've given points too. Hahah!

Thank you for this contest! Mainly because it helped me find this poem:
    A sigh from her

    then one from me-

    two pages turn

    --George Swede

What a perfect summary of a moment! I'm putting it on my profile!

Wow, I'm so impressed with your turn-out, the number and quality of the haiku entries. The fact that you read and thoughtfully commented on each one is equally impressive -> you must have felt like you were reading and writing a book! Great job! Thanks for this contest.
