This is a birthday contest for Namita -
a capella
when spring fills
the bowl of my lips,
and branches break under the weight
of a thousand blossoms -
I will bloom, till pollen shakes
right into the vessel of my bones;
till music sings in the silence of a songbird's throat -
I will bloom, as an obligation,
till each leaf finds its wind
somewhere amongst your breathing

wear some flowers in your hair!!...
if the wind had a voice
you are the sun's blades
slicing clean a still day- namita your voice
takes wing
as the purple martin lifts from your mouth
oh child,
i do not know your native tongue
or the sharp cluck of your mother's insistence
"eat, eat... little namita you must eat to grow"
but from the quiet of my meadow
i sit silent
beneath a white flowering pear
and recognize the wing span and wind
which flies your small hand

i don't know, i don't know 
oh!! is she that genius? well, just because she is totally brilliant and incredible as a poet doesn't mean that I can get up a poem about her ... I mean, gosh, free verse? ... sigh, well, okay, i might try my hand at that sort of thing, but as you know, I only do very structured verse, except for cinquains, of course, which i hate ... so, okay, i might be able to think of something, but jeez, well, okay 
... i will give it a try
