You can’t be the pole and the equator at the same time.
You must choose your own line, as I hope to do,
and it will probably be colour.
~ Vincent van Gogh

I’ve dreamt in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after,
and changed my ideas; they’ve gone through and through me,
like wine through water, and altered
the colour of my mind.

Colour helps to express light,
not the physical phenomenon,
but the only light that really exists,
that in the artist’s brain.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 23, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 750, Bronze: 450, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: WOW!!! It took us quite a while to judge this contest and to arrive at the final placings. What stunning poetry you placed in our eyes, poets!!
Unfortunately Namita could not complete the contest due to personal circumstances, but I was fortunate enough to have the very talented Gill (NurseChilly) and Tara (ardentMarch) as new co-judges. The finalist were the ones that scored the highest points as awarded by the 3 judges. There were at least another 6 poems that were trophy-worthy but we decided to stay with six trophies.
Thank you to Gill and Tara for their valuable input - you are stars, girls!! Congratulations and big thank you to each entrant for your wonderful support and for making this contest so very hard to judge.

~ Silver to Annalise for "Upon receiving my soul back from the cleaners"
~ Bronze to grm for "the man who spoke violet"
HM's to:

You coloured us beautiful, poets!!

Oh! Love this contest idea! Bookmarked.
-
-
hope you do come back
-
-
I can already see that we're going to have a tough time judging this one, Namita!!!!
But that's a good thing, isn't..?
-
-
Yup! Can't wait to read 'em all... and start judgin (now that is going to be really tough!)
-
-
-
-
i shall ask the other me to come back here.
-
-
yes, and the other you should enter!!
-
-
I love the little reminder by henri matisse ... after all, a few meters from my house stands the amazing "matisse-chappel" ... he sketched sacred drawings on a white wall, and when the light shines through the yellow and blue windows, the robes of the saints become colorful ... just outstanding ...

yeah, that's where I live ... romantic, he ?
gotta put this contest into my caddy ...
-
-
Of course...you're from Paris, Marion

Would love to see you here and write that "view" of yours!! -
-
not living in paris anymore, moved to vence a few years back (much nicer and warmer
)
let's see, I might have to book a private consultation with matisse first ... he knows best
-
-
-
I may give you power rather than a soft whisper... be prepared...!
-
-
Power, thunder, lightning....we're ready for it!!
-
-
don't care if you both prefer free verse ... am entering a cinquain
...

...
... bookmarked!!!
-
-
We both love cinquains, and we do know how good you are at them!! Do enter... can't wait to read your "chanson"!

-
-
Oooh, I love color! My favorite is green, but anything that can paint me a rainbow is alright by me.

I'll definately enter! ^^ -
-
You can pick your own colour, Cassie....Green makes me think of something Federico Lorca wrote:
“Green how I love you green.
Green wind.
Green boughs.
The ship on the sea
And the horse on the mountain.”
-
-
Green makes me feel like swaying in the wind like a tree.

Let me ponder for a moment before I begin writing. ^^

this is a beautiful contest, Ladies!...

wonderful inspiration here..
-
-
Hope to see you here, Tara - any colour you want...!!
-
-
Another wonderful contest (I missed the music instrument one, was waiting for the guitar and when I saw it was over
This one I won't miss. Loved the verses here
-
-
Gooood!! Would love to see you here... I don't know about Namita, lol, but if you want to write in Dutch I'll understand, lolol!!
-
-
Is Portuguese also OK?
-
-
lolol!!! I've been to Brazil before...loved it, but I never learned to speak Portugese
. How about German or Afrikaans, lolol - or even Tamil.
Hmmm perhaps not...let's stick to English even though it's not yours, mine or Namita's first language!
-
-
-
-
whoa, look at all those entires already...
-
-
Jaaaa...seems as if people like the colour-thing
-
-
Bookmarked, ladies.
-
-
And we would love to see YOU here in all your colours, my lady!!
-
-
I do...
but mine won't fit....
because my colors exist in the realm of non-color...lol
gray, black and white ..
not very exciting as my kids have told me..
may you get wonderful entries..
-
-
oh yours will fit, i'm sure of that and will fit perfectly...even among the other colours. I love those colours you mentioned..I consider them part of the realm of colours
!!
-
-
Bookmarked!! A contest which celebrates colours is worth every effort!

Will be back soon.
-
-
Glad you like it - please come back soon
-
-
Alright, my muse overworked and I've two works which could be equally suitable for this contest. Is it limited to just one poem?
-
-
Yes, just one poem per poet
- so you have some decisions to make...!
-
-
Sigh, decisions, decisions. Alright, just one last query even though it might sound a tad stupid. What's meant by a 'solid background'? Just plain coloured background with any design as such?
-
-
just a monochromatic background...just one colour - it can have a border though.
-
-
Thanks!
-
-
-
-
-
Hi! I've got a poem I would love to submit, I think it fits the prompt perfectly. Is there anyway I can slide it in even though it's a prewrite?
-
-
Sorry...no prewrites but if you want to post an entry it would have to be as a new poem....
-
-
Am I banned?
-
-
Hmmmmmmm lolol oh, what the heck... I'm feeling very generous this morning, so... you're unbanned, Allyce!!!!
-
-
Damn! I can't believe missed this, if you have another one like it please let me know!
-
-
Will do!!
Seems as if the colour concept is a popular one!
-
-
Thank you.
-
In my haste & busy schedule, I neglected to thank our lovely hostesses for this contest...Congratulations, one & all. 'Tis always a pleasure.
