I recently watched a couple of documentaries on Fred Phelps and his insane clown possey ( his inbred freak children and grandchildren )
I was absolutly INFURIATED by what I witnessed from these demonic hate mongers.
I would like to know how all of you feel about the

Yes it is very sad. After the documentary I did some research of my own and was surprised to find that I was feeling soprry for even the adults of the monster phelps.
The brain washing and other abuses these people were subject to are very sad and pathetic.
In fact if it was only about the ignorance of their view on homosexuality I would probably still feel sorry for them rather than think them evil because all of the human beings I know who are in a loving relationship, whether it be with a man or woman and regardless if they themselves are a man or woman really doesn't give a rats ass what anyone thinks of their lifestyle and how and who they love.
In fact is someone stood outside and picketed me for loving a man I would laugh and then honestly never give it another thought.
But it's the fact they are doing these things to families of fallen solidiers on the day of the funeral.
They feed off of misery and grief and if you ask me they should be exterminated.
So yeah~ anyway.

It is truly sad that young children are being given these ideals to live by... they terrorise the innocent who are trying to be good... law abiding. It is sad this is all based around the interpretations of the bible(again). I do not agree with the message they carry... their means of expressing it. Just like USA SPREADS COKE, WEAPONS AND JUNK FOOD fantasies, ASWELL AS HOLLYWOOD IDOLS around the planet whilst worshipping the dollar, compromising the consciousness of the planet with its quick fix salvation, aswell as getting young kids involved in war for the sake of phossil fuel posession. Yes, I have to agree with you, sadly.
I tend to want to 'jump' to Americas defense but I can not argue with truth.
I love this country for all that is good about it and it's people but am often saddend by the horrific events and actions of some who hide behind our flag.

I watched the two documentries that were done here, with louis theroux and keith allen (who can I just say was almost as ignorant as they were). I don't understand how people can hate so much, how they can honestly believe in such things. They just make themselves look stupid, I mean, where's the point in upsetting people when they know it's not even going to make a difference? I don't really know how I could possibly do this subject justice, but perhaps I'll make an attempt at something

I am so,so saddened by the actions of the Westboro Baptist Church.Surely free speech should not free the speaker to take a liberty,to disrespect or cause incitement?
Whatever their views re soldiers they most certainly have no right to disrespect their grieving families by intruding on their funerals and singing songs of hatred.
Whatever their personal views on homosexuality they have no right to pass judgement by waving banners and chanting and inciting homophobic hatred. Perhaps rather than fearing one man loving another,and gay love is just that,a mixture,a melding of love and lust as is a heterosexual relationship,they are proving the opposite of the point they hope to make,for how many gay man or women are at funerals yelling inhumane chants and made up songs of the utmost insensitivity? By one's own actions alone thy will be known.Not by God's or any neighbour but by one's actions one is shown within true colours however they may be dressed up.
This Sect do not represent any religious doctrine but misuse religion as a weapon to club,to maim and aim slings and arrows towards two sections of society that are without a voice,those that have died in battle and those that battle on simply because they are gay.
This sect are very dangerous for they are attempting to disaffect and destructure society by misusing the bible for their own need to bash.
Firstly,whether or not the war in Iraq is unjust a soldier who has lost his life there is just as entitled to be laid to rest without his final goodbye being disrespected as are each of us.
Secondly,being gay is decided by DNA ,just as much as whether one is in fact heterosexual or has a certain eye colour etcetera,the only choice is whether to "come out" or live half a life and "stay in the closet"
Both choices have consequences that heterosexuals are not faced with.
The danger of the new laws that are being created to deal with sects such as Westboro Baptist Church is that they are ultimately going to build more walls of division.
I would have had them arrested instead for causing a disturbance,each and every time they caused a disturbance,for free speech should open up a topic for debate not,not cause unrest.
Surely Social Services should investigate the indoctrination of children of ages ranging from toddlers upwards singing such brain washing lyrics as if,as if they were nursery rhymes?
It may be no coincidence that so many of the sect are qualified to practice at the Bar,for sometimes people choose to learn law so that they may learn how to misuse it for their own advantage.
The sect have openly stated they welcome the publicity,of course they do,it's a platform to feed their message to the masses and for which they do not need to pay extortionate advertizing fees.
I suggest instead that they are starved of their free publicitly and not given a worldwide platform for which they hunger for with the appetites of those that are never satiated.
Let us not feed them or allow them to feed us,arrest them when they cause a disturbance,have their children assessed by psycholigists for emotional disturbance and pray for their lost souls,somewhere along the lineage of Fred Phelps he sowed the seeds of discontent which mutated to seeds of malcontent and now his DNA disaffects those who are simply trying to cope with the complexity of grieving and complexly disaffects those simply trying to love another of the same sex.
I hope you won't mind my sharing my thoughts and I apologize for not being able to summarize,but I truly feel this sect want us all to be as angry as they are,I won't be rage red like them but will try and shine a light on the fact that what they actively choose do whilst wearing their own skins is in actuality the reality of their own sins...
NB As they proclaim so loudly that all Americans are Godless sinners and deserve to die one wonders why they do not emigrate to another country?
If I were Judge Judy I would sentence them to community service so that they served the community and if they refused or caused disaffect during that service I would award them free flights to another country where free speech brings quite,quite different sanctions if it causes civil unrest...

You intelligence is obvious in your writing and in your wisdom regarding how and why to deal with these idiots.
They were sued by a father of a fallen young solidier for 11 million and the father won the suit against them, they are of course appealing but it is hope is it not?
Hope that the country is taking a stand against those do incite.
Your comment on this subject was very interesting and I would like to add to it by saying this:
If I gathered up my family and others who have lost loved ones due to police violence and corruption and we went to a fedrel building ( or even on any strret corner anywhere USA) and we picketed and yelled obscene things about our government ( TRUE things ! ) I garuntee you that we would be jailed and chrged with inciting a riot along with a handful of other bogus charges that should have been avoided and we should have been protected under the constitution.
Our bail would be set high and our fines would be higher and we would end up paying monetary and well as emotionally for excersizing our rights under the constitution.
WHEW... You got me going girl! LOL

Liberty or Taking a Liberty?
Dear poet,
I hope no offence is taken by the offering of my own perspective re the comment you have left re freedom of speech.
I understand implicitly that you share the same thoughts as myself in that if we censor free speech there then becomes the grey area of who decides what is censored,the Government or the people and without the liberty of free speech how do we champion causes that need to be voiced for the greater good?
However, the Sect known as the Westboro Baptist Church are surely misusing the liberty of free speech by arriving uninvited at funerals of dead soldiers and screaming abusive chants and rants, whatever their opinions they do have the right to their own opinion and have had the same opportunities to open up debate by the platforms that those of us that are humane do,however how is it containing free speech by asking that this group of activists do not disrespect the grief of others by claiming the right to choose the funeral to wave placards with slogans of hatred and to yell at the procession of mourners?
If you yourself sadly lost a relative would you honestly feel that any group of activists had the right under the right of freedom of speech to choose the actual funeral as a place of protest or would you ask only that you were allowed the right to hold the funeral respectfully and ask that they respectfully hold a different venue to share their opinions?
Personally I feel that to dishonour any grieving relatives at the poignant time of their last goodbye is not liberty or freedom of speech but is taking a liberty and misusing the liberty of freedom of speech.
I myself do not agree with the opinions as stated by the Westboro Baptists, just as they would not agree with mine.
However, if sadly one of their own relatives died I would not invade their last goodbye at the funeral in the way that they do and would not advocate anyone else do any such thing.Two wrongs do not make a right.
What I feel is this, they have as much right to free speech as anyone else,even though I disagree with their opinions but no, not the right to choose the funeral as a platform of expressing it or to disrespect or cause disaffect.
You may reply that you agree or you may reply that we will simply have to agree on only that we disagree and either way all is well, no one need disrespect the other,that is the beauty of free speech and that is the way not to take a liberty with.
I feel Martin Luther King showed the world just how positvely free speech could be used to have positive affect. Everyone who has ever listened to his speech will have their own opinion on it but one thing is for certain,the man was able to open debate via a proper platform of debate and showed that free speech does not mean taking away the freedom of another,nor dishonouring another.
The Westboro Baptist Church have their own version of their own dream and I cannot see how they have the right to add to the weight of those grieving by turning the funerals into a living nightmare.
There is a time and a place for everything and for everything there is a time and a place surely?

Certainly the United States is a very free country, but it is not totally free - which is actually a good thing, unless you actually like anarchy.

Actually the true 'religion' of satanism ( and it is a religion)in the last few years has attracted more to it's ranks by claiming to be very civilized and adamantly denying such things as animal sacrifices.
I am assuming this is what you are talking about.
And although I do not believe that so called satanist run around stealing babies for said sacrifices ( only the few who are truly mentally unstable) I do know without a shadow of a doubt that animal sacrifices are still made by those in the cult/religion.
Now since this is my contest, I am really okay with you not participating it in since you have taken offense to my beliefs about what satanism is, actually my KNOWLEDGE, first hand knowledge.
So next time you assume that I or anyone else does not know what they are talking about perhaps YOU should either A. look it up or B. Know who you are talking to before you make such assumptions.
What I do when I read something that I do not like or have no intrest of being a part of it, is I just hit my back button on my browser and do not participate.

And as far as the delicacy or lack thereof of my wording I am completey satisfied and would not do it any differently.
I believe I have as much right to say FAR less insulting things to/about a group of terrorists as they do when they picket solidiers funerals screaming at the grieving families that they are happy their loved one was blown up by an IED. Or how about the statment ' Thank God for dead soliders'
So...like I said I am okay with how I worded my contest.

Freedom is never free. There is truth to that saying more truth than many Americans will ever know. While I'm not out on the front lines in a war that has taken me far from family and friends I am here making sure that such a horrific event as September 11th DOES NOT happen again. I am part of the first line of defense here in our country and I have never been more proud of my country than I am now.
The war on terrorism will never be over especially when we allow groups such as these to flourish in our country. Make no mistake as terrorism and terrorists are defined these people are only one step away from becoming the groups the glorify.

Thank you for the silver. I truly hope that these individuals feel the wrath of their "God". I hope that they realize that hate is not a tool that provides for the greater good. They'll soon find out what the price is for their ability to speak their minds. Don't worry they will get theirs soon enough.
