Tomorrow 13 January is Hugh's Birthday. This contest is to honour him.
Hugh always does his best to help his friends in every way he can, now it's time to put him on flowers
This contest is open only to his favorites and to those who have him on their favorite list.
It will be closed later today, so when he wake up and get online he'll see the poems written to him gathered on this page.

I wrote a poem to Hugh few months ago, I want to share it with you...
From a land so far away, where seasons are other than mine,
Lives a man whose heart is full of love and devotion.
Wise words to share and a great care from his eyes shine.
His shoulders catch my tears, warm comfort through the ocean.
Positive thoughts fly miles across the sky and land here
To ease my sad days and to support the life I’ve chosen.
Free advice kindly offered, a presence I feel so near...

A true friend I’ve found, beyond the mountains and high skies
May we meet one day, in the samba land or under the Maori’s sun
But, even distance can’t stop the union from this growing rise;

I crying joyful tears here. I knew that I wasn't writing in "pentameter" but "tetrameter" as soon as I began the second part of the double sonnet! ~sniffs~ It was far too late to change things then, especially with all the trouble I experience writing sonnets in the first place. ~sniffs~ But for Hugh, ANYTHING! !sniffs! I am so honored to rerceive the Silver trophy! Even more honored that everybody liked my BIRTHDAY tribute to Hugh! I pray all good feelings of love, and laughter linger for a lifetime!
