This is different from the last two. So heads up. I'm making this one a little more difficult, but more interesting.
The last two Picture It! contests I held I gave you an original photograph of mine to write a poem about. Not this time. This time...it's all you. You don't need to host the photo at allpoetry.com if you are not upgraded, an off site URL is fine. I'll even host the image for you if you need it. Please read on!
Rules (read them...EVERYONE can enter! Find out how below!)
1. Take an original photograph. Nothing you found on the web, nothing taken by a friend or family member. You have to take the photograph yourself. It's the honor system.
2. Post it at the start of the page, and write a poem based on the photograph. Put the poem under the image, not two seperate pieces. ADDITION! If you are unable to upload an image because you aren't silver or above, post a link to the image you want to write about right before the actual poem. I know it won't be a clickable link, but I have no problem copy and pasting the URL to open the image.
3. In your Author Comments, tell me about the photo. When was it taken, where is it, and why did you chose that particular photo.
4. Poems cannot be prewrites, but your photo can be as old as you want.
5. I am allowing nudes. I am NOT allowing porn. Nothing sexual in the images. If you want to use a nude, please IM first and let me see the image before you submit it. If you don't do this, you're out. Even if it's tasteful. Sorry. And wait for me to tell you it's ok before submitting it.
6. Nothing in the photo or poem including sexism, racism, all those isms. You know the drill.
7. No altered images. I want the pure thing. So nothing where you made it black and white on the computer, no words (unless you are adding your copyright, like I do), no images of people swimming in someone's eye, etc. Pure, right off the film photograph. If it happens to be something odd (like a photo I once saw that a friend took of her boyfriend on the bus where his face didn't show up, it was just a black hole in his hood; freak accident, cool photo), tell me in your author comments that this is the case.
8. A hint: I enjoy nature photos, especially photos including water. I'm not saying you have to do this, or that it will really sway me either way. Just a guideline if you are at a loss.
9. The photo must be clear. You can have blurred areas for artistic reason, but there has to be an image there that I can tell what it is without you telling me what it is.
10. I will allow you to use non-artistic photos if it's something like your child, your parents, etc. But make the poem something other than a dedication to that person/people. You can use pets, too, but the same rule goes. Use your imagination. Nothing like a shot of you and your friends stoned off your butts, laying on top of each other, 20 people thick to a futon. Make it interesting.
11. Any questions, IM me!
ADDITION! If you are unable to upload an image because you aren't silver or above, post a link to the image you want to write about right before the actual poem. I know it won't be a clickable link, but I have no problem copy and pasting the URL to open the image.
Have fun!
P.S. If you are in need of photo storage for the image you want to use, send me a private IM. I can host your image if you need me to at my Fotki account.
NOTE Date extended in hopes of getting more entries. PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE DECIDING YOU CANNOT ENTER! YOU DO NOT NEED TO UPLOAD AN IMAGE TO THIS SITE!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on January 28, 2005
- Rewards: Gold: 400
- Final notes: Hey! Guys...these were amazing! These were definetly the best poems I've gotten for a contest yet! The imagination that came through in these, the feelings...it was all very inspiring! If you haven't yet, I suggest you take a moment to read the other poems posted up and view the photographs as well. There was some wonderful photography present here aside from the photographs, I think you for sharing them. Nice job, all!

Oh, this sounds like fun. I love the background of your wolf. I'll find a picture. We're due to have more snow soon, and the Air Force Academy has plenty of Nature. Hugs, Patricia

i have a problem, i can't post picture, so this contest is for silver members and beyond.

Ok...I can amend it...post a link to a picture if they don't let you upload one.
-

Also, I can't IM at the moment, but how many poems may we enter?
-
I'm gonna say...three is the limit.

This is a great contest idea.I live on the gulf coast in Florida, and am always taking pictures of the ocean( only a block from my house ), and of all the animals and birds here.I did alter my photo in the sense that I took two photos, a before and after of Hurricane Ivan, and placed them side by side.Other then that the images are exactly as taken.Great contest.I hope you get more entries. This was a tough choice for me as I have so many great pics.Thank you for such a creative and great challenge.
Blessed be

One question I forgot to ask....how many times may we enter?
-
First, that type of altering or editing is perfectly fine in this. It doesn't change the image at all, that's really all that counts. And second, you can enter three times. Hope to see more from you!
-
I have a picture in mind, I will think about it, bookmark this and hopefully I shall return with something worth reading.
-
this is a great topic for a contest...i just hope my link works...i hope my poem is okay too...its kinda forced rhyme tho
but its about a good topic! Hope that counts!
