Lewis Carroll is my favourite poet/writer of all time...there are some very surprising facts about him that few people know....for this contest I would like you to go to this web site
www.heureka.clara.net/art/carroll.htm
read about him and then choose one of the following:-
a) write about his life
write about one of his stories or poems..this could be your interpretation of it...but don't copy him!...it could be how that particular piece affected you.
c) write about his value as a writer...particularly as a childrens writer.
d) If you would have liked to have met him (as I would!)...tell me what you would ask him or what you think he would be like.
e) anything else you can think of that would honour Lewis Carroll.
RULES
I ask only that you check your spelling and that you enjoy the contest...though it is not a rule it would be nice if you comment on at least one other entry.
I am aware that there are other Carroll fans out there so prewrites will be allowed.
POINTS AND PLACES
1st place gold trophy and 400 points
2nd place silver trophy and 200 points
3rd place bronze trophy and 100 points
update ...i have to travel up to london and will not be back for a week or ten days...i will catch up on commenting and judge when i return...xxxx

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 21, 2004
- Rewards: Gold: 400
- Final notes: This contest may not have had the most numerous amount of entries...which was good because I much prefer quality to quantity...and that is exactly what each and every entry provided.....my choices for the trophies where made with difficulty because of the high standard of the entries...Silica's version of carolls work bowled me over..if you haven't read it I would reccomend that you do...darths version also delighted me...it was a close call between that and Tahutihotep's wonderfully entertaining version....hot on their heels were Unbridled1 and Nando Tater who will both recieve some points for honourable mention...but I wish I had trophies and points for you all...leanne xxx

Hm, this is an interesting contest idea. I don't think there would be anything I could write that would be worthy though. Have fun with your contest and good luck to all who enter!

Leanne - I hope you don't mind that I've included the Oldpoetry link to Mr. Dodgson!
This is a wonderful idea for a contest - I hope you have squillions of entries.

Nice one Trev :D
This sounds a great idea, Lewis Carroll was a great poet/writer and i'm sure many people will have inspiration to work on this. I hope it goes well, and will give it a go myself
Take Care

Brilliant contest idea! Wish I was up to the challenge. Maybe after a bit of rumination I shall attempt this one. Though with the likes of Darth and Tahutihotep I don't think I'd even get into the ballpark.
I look forward to seeing what all this contest produces.
Good on you!

Thank you very much Leannewales’s! It’s always nice to get a few points and a little bit of gilt – but especially gratifying in such illustrious company, and for this contest; Lewis Carroll having been such a long time favourite. My condolences to the other competitors – but I’m sure it was a very tough choice!
