1/11/2004: Sorry for the wait
Sorry for taking so long to judge everyone. I've found it so hard to balance out uni and spending time doing anything else including judging. I will be commenting on people's work soon and io had a great time reading everyones poetry... it's been a real pleasure! I can't seem to read or write comments at the mo so i may be a while plus i will be announcing the honourable mentions once i have chance to reread them all.
Above all thank you for taking the time to write poetry especially for this contest and most of all thank you for your patience

This is my second contest in a week (and ever for that matter) and i want you to give me your best shot at these contest topics! No pre writes allowed I'm afraid but I'm sure you'll all come up trumps in this contest!
A lil promise from me to you
On entering i promise i will comment on ALL entries before judging. If you comment on more than one of my poems, i will post on 2 of your poems back! I always look forward to reading new poetry, and this contest gives me a perfect opportunity to meet some new poets! Note: i will comment on poets other poems after the contest entry date has ended so that i know whose poems i have and haven't posted on!
Now for the rules:
1. No prewrites
2. No sTiCkY cApS
3. Swearing where appropriate is allowed but strictly no erotica and graphic abuse thank you.
4. Comment on at least on other persons entry in the contest and say who you commented on in your Authors Comments
5. Comment on one of my poems and tell which poem of mine you commented on in the Authors Comments
6. You MUST use spell check before you post your poem.
7. Poems only sorry - no stories, lyrics etc.
8. Please note the choice number in the Author's Comments

The topics are as follows:
1. Abortion: Right or Wrong? Should it be outlawed / Is there a right to life? Give me your opinions - maybe you've had an abortion, did you regret it afterwards?
2. Politics: Do politicians put you off voting? Do you dislike all of the candidates in the US election, what do you think of Tony Blair? What you think of the war on Iraq - was it just? Just some ideas!
3. Liberation and Democracy: What does that mean to YOU? How would you feel if you liberated? Do you feel your living in a democracy?
4. Your occupation or job? Do you love it or hate it? What are the downfalls? Did you imagine you were going to be something else in life - is your career a disappointment or better than you hoped for?
5. Depression and Suicide: Have you ever been depressed? Why did you feel depressed? Has anyone ever driven you to madness or the edge of suicide? Do you self harm? Why do you do it? (No uber graphic ones please - I'm interested in emotional rather than brutally physical torture)
6. Marriage and Love: What it's like to be married - what was your wedding day like, was the preparation stressful? Divorce - why did you divorce - was it the best thing that ever happened? Are you in love ? What does it feel like?
7. Nature / your favorite place: where is your favorite place, why is it so special?

15. A message / regrets: If there was a message you could give to someone now, what would it be? Have you ever met a person, that special one, and you didn't make a move or tell them how you feel? If someone dear to you has passed away, is there anything you had wished you'd said? Just some ideas.
I think that pretty much covers it!

Depression And Suicide Have A Bath
Depression undressed shyly
while Suicide submerged his head
under the fragrant foam, hoping
for the much longed for escape.
She quickly took off her panties
and pulled Suicide up
from the depths of the water,
holding him close, feeling
his scarred skin rub her mood.
Suddenly Suicide brightened,
he pulled Depression down,
laughed as her head hit bubbles.
She spat a grin out and kissed him
passionately, her heart beating
promises of love until death do part.

sorry for not replying sooner! im currently judging and commenting on everyones poems its taking a lil longer than expected as i have had university commitments that have stopped me from using Allpoetry! As promised i will applaud and comment on all entries and i will comment on other poems by entrants as a BIG THANKYOU for entering hope that clears it up
