Contest For Non-Indians

Hello friends.

This contest is kept For non-Indians as i want to know how much and how deep people know about Gandhiji outside India.
I myself being an Indian, know how he is respected or sometime disrespected here at my place.
So i just want to know if the people away from India even  know the "Man of Century" properly.

Thanks for arriving here on this page.
This contest is dedicated to MAHATMA GANDHI.
Write a dedicated poem for him.
Pre-writes are allowed.
I would like you to add the plights of Freedom fighters too, who along with Gandhiji fought in his non-violent campaign.

Also i would like to dedicate this contest to my group Peace chain.Just because few poems from this contest may help the members to know about this great man more deeply.

Dont forget to write your nationality in your auther's comment.

First prize - 300 points
Second prize - 75 points
Third prize - 25 points

Take cares and have a nice time. Best of luck in this contest.

a great idea for a contest Vichitra. I hope you get a lot of entries, I read a contest on India held by mods some time back the entries were very disappointing. sad how little people know about other cultures, they miss out on so much richness.

Don't you think that having a competition for non-indians is a little segregationalist? Just a thought...

Yes. And I also think "segregationalist" isn't a word.

Vic, I understand the "Non-Indian" logic but......I also understand the other side of the coin too. You might end up with unwanted critisism on your hands, so go get some padding under your sweater son I submitted my effort although, I must admit, you caught me off-guard. Great idea for a contest though. Take care son. Mama La x

What do you mean when you say you want us to "add the plights of Freedom fighters too"? I don't understand this requirement.
hen you say to write a dedicated poem for him, does that mean it has to be something he would approve of, something he believed in, or can it be something in opposition to what he believed in?
Just looking for clarity. Not trying to be a pain.

A terrific idea for a contest Vic. Hopefully those who do not know of Mahatma Ghandi will take initiative to learn in order to write some great pieces for this contest along with those who already have this knowledge.
    Best wishes 's ~genielassie~

a poem inspired by thoughts of the tao is probably as close as i can get to a poem about gandhi. i'll bet you don't see many ghazals in english.

Thank you much for the silver. I am glad to see that you did reach the ten entry mark . You held a terrific contesst and I hope al those who have written for this contest and have read poem from this contest now have a better understanding of Gandhi. In this age of riotous violence across the earth... the non-violent means need to be revived.
    Best wishes and 's ~genielassie~
