This is my first contest, and one of the reasons I joined AP!
I am looking for new cheers for Nursing Orientation Week at my school! Be creative! Anything goes! For examples of some of the current cheers, please see my author page.
Feel free to include the name of the song the cheer should be sung to (we have a couple to the tune of "Battle Hymn of the Republic")
Try to make it about the positive or humorous aspects of nursing, and feel free to make fun of other faculties - just don't get too out of hand.
And now for a little terminology and explanations: (Feel free to use any)
Capes - nursing orientation leaders, so named b/c of the capes (or
cloaks) once worn by nursing students to identify them in the
hospital
FRECs - Engineering orientation leaders. Stands for Frosh Remedial
Education Committee. The scariest leaders on campus (they wear
kilts, dye themselves purple, and slam their jackets on the ground
in mock intimidation), but also the Capes' best friends. We often
have "We love the Engineers" and "We love Nurses" shout outs
Techs - Computer Science orientation leaders. Also friends of Capes.
Teaches - Concurrent Education Orientation leaders
Coaches - Phys. Ed. Orientation leaders
Geckos - International and Transfer student orientation leaders.
Bosses - commerce orientation leaders. Enemies of the Capes. They like to
think we'll all be working for them someday.
Gaels - Arts and Science orientation leaders. Everyone likes to make fun
of Arts and Science b/c they are the biggest faculty on campus.
They are members of the Arts and Science Undergraduate Society
(ASUS), so any play on words that you can include the accronym in
would be cool.
Phys-Eddies - phys ed students
Con-Eddies - Concurrent education students
Newts - transfer and international students
ArtSci - an arts and science student, often mocked b/c they'll all get
jobs at McDonald's afterschool (it's a big joke, of course)
Commies - Commerce students
Tricolour - the school colours/flag. (blue-yellow-red). We often paint
ourselves (our faces anyway) tricolour
Have fun! Feel free to submit as many pieces as you would like. There may even be more points available!
I look forward to reading all your amazing submissions. Good luck everyone!

I'm not really sure what you want. Do you want short things like game cheers, for instance,
Nurse, nurse, please rehearse,
Don't make fodder for the hearse.
Or do you want song parodies
Is this the real life, is this just fantasy
I'm all hung over, I've got an autopsy.
Open my eyes, and my meat pies hurl freeeeeeeeee.
I'm just a poor frosh. I need your sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
Taste for beer, little dough
Anywhere the booze flows
Gotta some into meeeee
To meee
Mama. I'm out of bread
Put a bottle in my mouth
My allowance has gone south
Mama, school has just begun
And I have thrown my money all away
Mama, oooooooooo
I don't mean to make you cry
If I don't have some cash here by tomorrow,
I'll be home, I'll be home
Well, you get the idea. -
Any or all. They should be cheers that Nurses can sing at other faculties though. And don't forget to include the name of the song you are parodying. And feel free to enter as many times as you want
