Muse Stalker's Fourth Contest

And, now for something a little different….

Requirements:

1 - Entrants must have previously won a trophy. (If there can
be contests that exclude previous contest winners, then why not one
 specifically for previous contest winners?)

2 - Poems may be any style and about any subject, with the following
 conditions:

   A. They must "speak" to me. (If you’re unsure what I find
interesting, then read either my own poems or those of the poets
      listed on my author’s page.)
   B. They must be written for this contest. In other words,
      NO PRE-WRITES.
   C. They must be grammatically correct.

Prizes:

1st Place – gold trophy + 300 points

2nd Place – silver trophy + 150 points

3rd Place – bronze trophy + 75 points

Have Fun. Good luck.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on July 17, 2004
  • Rewards: Gold: 300
  • Final notes:
What was I thinking?!! I had to judge a contest in which every single entrant is a past prize winner. This was so hard. I asked for poems that "spoke to me"....and, boy, I sure got 'em! There was one written for me....one about my favorite singer of all time....and lovely tales told to me by talented poets from all over the world. I wish I could have picked several poems for each "place". I know that some of the poems that didn't win a trophy in this contest would have been sure contest winners elsewhere. And, the truth is, they are still winners in my book. But, I am the biggest winner in this contest...as per usual. Thank you all for the wonderful poetry....and, for proving to me - once again - that AP is the best place in the world for those of us who love good poetry.

I think this is a great idea (although I'm not eligable for this or the Trophyless Poet contests )...you see the other kind a lot, which is nice because it gives others a chance, but you should get some marvelous entries from some marvelous poets.

I changed the contest entrant rules. Now, you only need to have one won trophy in the past. I hope to read something wonderful from you soon. Thanks for pointing out how I'd missed the boat in trying to even things up for the folks who are so often excluded from contests.

o.O what was the original number of contests won? They should make a contest where you have had to have won at least 30 trophies! WOOT! lol

LOL you tickle me lady. So many times I've seen contest for trophyless poets and in a small way it bothers me. On one hand I can understand the need to give everyone a chance to win a trophy but personally I wouldn't feel that I had earned it if I wasn't up against the site as a whole. That's just me though and I could be completely wrong. Have fun with this!

    great idea

i like this idea because it will be a true competition.a lot of great writers will enter and that will make it challenging.of course there are a lot of writers without trophies that are truly talented and there have been many contest for them.i'm a little weary of the contest route anf this one certainly knocks me out.with all those 20 and 200 trophy winners entering,me with a hand full don't stand a chance.great idea though.

Deb, I am truly honored! Your approval of my poem means so much to me! When I saw your contest, my first reaction was "I don't stand a chance." But then I decided to let my muse make the decision and I'm so glad I did! I think the fact that I wrote this poem with you in mind made it turn out the way that it did. Your poetry inspires me and makes me want to 'kick it up a notch' (like Emeril, the cook on TV).

Thank you so much! I'll be walking on air the rest of the day!
