The contest for this month is to write about winter in some way. Write about its beauty, write about a particular winter memory, Christmas (if you associate it with winter), or any other aspect of the winter months that catches your fancy.
Personally I love winter, so I'd most like to read about winter's beauty- but there are several other greeters who will be judging this, so don't worry about pleasing me! Just make sure it involves winter, and you're set!
RULES
1. New June members only (If you joined AP BEFORE 1ST JUNE sorry this contest is not for you
2. No limit on entries
3. No pre-writes
4. Any form (I'm always impressed with new forms)

This looks like it will be interesting, since a lot of people are snow free during winter, while others(like me) get covered with the stuff!
Good luck to all that enter.
I look forward to reading your poetry.
-
What a cooooooool idea! Thank you, down unda'!
I'm anxious to read these.

Winter in America is cooooolllllldddddd...... ahem, Now here's a challenge, warm days, balmy nights, hangin with friends on california's coast. Surfing, fanging you're open top sports car down Highway 101 (?) and all of you from the land of Uncle Sam have to write about winter, hehehe, Please do your best, and Have Fun Dave.
-
I'm going to enjoy this one. I'm a Winter love too Northern or Southern Hemisphere - doesn't matter which. It's been sooooo long since I've seen snow - I'd like to see poems about snow to get my memories awake.
Great idea Chris.
~Von~ -
I think it is more challenging to write about winter, when it is warm outside - at least it is in my part of the world
I can't wait to read the entries.
-
THREE cold months? You're obviously not from Montana!
-
lol, I'm not even from the USA.
It's more like five and a half cold months in my neck of the woods, come to think of it.
-
There is no need to judge my poem "snowday". I forgot that I had already entered the may contest. sorry.

Gee, around here it seems like about 6 months of winter, and 6 months of road construction....and once in awhile we might get a bit of summer mixed with the road construction... seems silly to write about winter when we finally got rid of it...
SilentHuntress -
lol, 'finally got rid of it'? A fairly large portion of the world population is in the southern hemisphere. We've only just got into it.
-
I don't know about the rest of you, but winter in Wisconsin is COLD. Five and a half months of cold, snow, and ice. I love it! You learn to, after 18 years.
-
Finnaly winters over and I can just take my shirt off and look good
-
It's surprisingly tricky to write a poem about winter when it's 90 degrees Fahrenheit outside your door! I've managed something, though I make no guarantees as to the accuracy of events portrayed --- I don't even remember what I was doing last week, let alone in January!
-
Mmmm I love the cold, snow and ice! This sounds like a lovely and fun challenge in which to participate!
~The Enigma Of Life~ -
I enjoyed the challenge of writing about winter.....because my style is usually very dark....but i think i did an alright job with a combination of both
-
Dammit... I wanted to write a poem about winter... Just goes to show that us strange folk that have been here awhile don't matter much anymore
Kidding, as always. Good luck with judging... Looks like you need it

The only thing I like about WINTER is that I get to see all of my faimly. We are all spread out here in the US. lol It's about the only time I get to see some of them
I hate winter, snow, ice,THE COLD....but I look forward to it every year just to see my family.
-
Huh. The deadline was extended.
That's fantastic, though, in that we'll probably get a lot more entries between now and the 29th. For those of us keeping an eye on this contest, it means a steady stream of new poems to comment on throughout the rest of the month
.
-
The contest will go for the entire month of June, to accommodate those that join throughout the month. Since the contest deadlines only allow two weeks at a time, it has to be extended a couple times until the first of July
-
I only just joined today and I wrote a poem that I spent the longest on for the first time ever.
Hehe, comment on it if you wish. It will be interesting to see what you think. It's called My Winter Solace. -
Its 75 but rather chilly here in Ky today and the first day in weeks it hasnt rained
I love winter and watching it snow so I think this a great idea
Hugs

I think I am about to cry
I saved a bunch of poems for offline viewing and commenting, and I had two left to read and comment on....when...when....(I can't say it
) When my computer went blue screen on me and then restarted itself!
I have read all the poems up to the time I post this, so, if you don't see a comment from me on yours, at least youknow that I did indeed read it.
(Damn, I musta had at least 100 points worth of comments that didn't get posted.
-
79 entries to date - this contest has certainly be successful.
It's been interesting reading so many different perspectives of what Winter means to so many people.
I'ts been hard going reading all of them - but definitely worth it.
~Von~ -
I don't know where you live... but here in Buffalo NY there's WAY more than three months of winter.
-
All of the poems I thought were good! Good Luck to everyone in it!!!!!
-

Uh, I don't think it means you have to leave AP. I mean, three people won out of close to eighty. Don't beat yourself up over it.
