CRITERIA MUST BE MET IN ORDER FOR ENTRY TO BE CONSIDERED
Your chance to be featured in a weekly column - if your poem is one of the top 3 chosen it will be featured in Tina Brannon's Recommended Reads for the week - so go for it and gain instant recognition on Allpoetry.
This contest is open to all new members in May only. If you joined the last day of April and haven't had a chance to enter the April contest, you may enter this one for May.
Since it's almost the end of the school year I thought it would be fun to write a poem about your most memorable teacher. It can be any teacher you choose .....regular school teacher, dance or music teacher, your arobics teacher, karati teacher, drivers ed teacher...any teacher you want to write about. Us oldies can even remember a special teacher from way back when. Tell us why he or she is your favorite, if they made a difference in your life, maybe the one who had the most fun class or stood by you in a stressful time, gave you inspiration and encouragement...whatever your reason, go with it. Make us feel your appreciation of this special teacher.
Just a few simple rules:
1. No foul language
2. No erotica or other adult content (our young poets need to have access to the poems)
3. Must be at least 10 lines
4. Have some fun with this contest
1st place winner will recieve 300 points and a gold trophy
2nd place winner will receive 150 points and a silver trophy
3rd place winner will receive 100 points and a bronze trophy
Runners up will receive 50 points each
Now....have fun
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 2, 2004
- Rewards: Gold: 300
- Final notes: Firstly - apologies for the time taken to judge. Our main host, Catz has had tremendous computer problems and for most of the month has been unable to access the contest. So in her absence I hope that we have done her justice with the choices made.
Our judging is done by a series of votes by the whole team of greeters and having said that I would also like to add that the entries were difficult to judge. However the final 3 were the poems with the votes to carry them to a place and a trophy.
Thank you to all who took the time, interest and the energy to participate. Since you joined Allpoetry, we hope your experience has been a positive one and you continue to enjoy your time here.
On behalf of the whole Greeter Team - Welcome to Allpoetry!

No fowl language
Does this mean chickens can't enter?
I still see my Tech Studies teacher 20 yrs after leaving school, he's a great guy and we're still great friends.
Good luck to all that enter.
Do your best, and have fun

Yehhhhh!!! And they can let their hair down. Go ahead. Talk about the way a guy tied your hair to the desk chair. Or crawled beneath it to tie your shoe laces together.. Or was that YOU that tied mine??!! Hmmm? Did the poor teacher have warts OR did she swoon you?
Tell all. This is going to be a vent AND a fun opportunity. And nobody's funner than our greeters....including catz!
Hey. You can do this. Just make sure you follow directions to be a contender. Read closely!
Warmly, CookieZeal

This is going to be such a cool contest!
It's interesting to read how someone can shape a future.
Good luck to all those who enter, I look forward to reading your words
No fowl language?
I was looking forward to a tribute to a Chicken plucker teacher

Damn, this is the kind of contest I'd like to have a shot at enterting someday. I think everyone who has pleasant memories of school could appreciate the importance of one or more good teachers.

I'm looking forward to seeing the entries to this contest. I have many memories of teacher- good and baaaaad!!!
Have fun with this - and hey it doesn't even have to be true - but I bet most of the entries are Lol

Oh great contest idea. I like the idea that AP has a monthly contest for new members, but why not another one for old members too? Something to keep the fire going here on the site. I know at times, things just become rather dull a really hard challange each month that takes research, percision and a time investment would be good for many. It need not even cost AP points, if there were an entry charge, a pool to collect points I mean. Good topic though. This should inspire many.

AWW MAN guys this is so not fair!!! I wish i was new all over again

what if I joined near the end of April, and April's contest was over? I never had a chance to enter a new comer's contest? Cheryl
-
Our March contest was a great success and it's a shame you didn't enter it - we had so many entries writing about a beautiful picture - the idea of Greeter 'Barbara'. Our rules are such:
People who join AP on the last day of any month are the only members allowed to join in the contest for the next month.
Regards
