Okay, here goes. This is my first contest! Woohoo for Me. Aren't you just soo excited? Yup. I would be if I were me, though, of course.. I AM me.. so yeah, I'm excited. Okay, enough with the psychotic rambling now..
Anyways.. I want you to write me a poem, about ANY subject, ANY length, ANYthing, really, with one exception:
It has to be inspired by a song, and have at least 5 lines from the song in the poem.
Here's the "rules":
Choose your favorite song(s).
Pick (at least) 5 lines from said song(s), and write a poem with them in it.
In the author's comments, I want you to give me the address to a site that I can find the lyrics online, and also type the 5 lines from the song, so that I don't have to compare the poem to the song and search for the lines that you used.
**If you don't put these things in your author's comments.. I'm not even going to waste my time reading it. And I give no warnings, either.**
If you have more than one favorite song, that's fine! The more the merrier, I say (but choosing more than one song doesn't mean that I'm going to favor your poem over a one-song-inspired poem). If you use more than one song, then you still have to have 5 song lines, but you don't have to have 5 from each (i.e.: 1 from each, 2 from one and 3 from another, etc.). But only two entries per person, please.
If you need an example, see my poem 'My Truth' but it doesn't have to be made entirely of song lyrics like that, you can have your own words in there too.
Again, make sure you give me a link(s) to the song(s) you chose, as well as the 5 song lines you used. And you have to have (at least) 5 lines. Oh, and iIhate humorous poetry, and haikus.. so those types won't win. I'll tell you that right now and save some of ya'll the trouble (geez.. I feel like I'm coming across as a real hard ass bitch.. my deepest apologies, really)
Oh, and this is a 'winner takes all' sorta thing, unless i'm torn between 2 or whatever at the end..

Contest is Over

- Final notes: Well, first of all.. there were only 3 poems that followed the rules perfectly. So the rest i didn't even read. Either they didn't give me a link to the song, or they didn't put the lyrics they used, or neither.. so yeah, if you're wondering why you lost.. that's probably the reason.
The 3 poems that did follow my rules were awarded First, Second, and Third (obviously). I was gonna make it a winner takes all, but all 3 were nicely written and they FOLLOWED THE RULES! And really, to tell the truth, if more had followed the rules, i probably only would have awarded a first place, but i decided to be nice to those who cared enough about the rules to read them. So thank you to all those who didn't listen to what i wanted, you made my job must easier, and also put me in a very generous mood for the other contestents, so i'm sure they thank you too.

hey I have a poem that is inspired by a song, but I sang it at a choir festival a few years ago so you can't get the lyrics online probably. Oh well...great idea for a contest though!

Hmmmm.....are perodies excepted......I have two parodies where I rewrote a song by Pink Floyd(Wish You Were Here), and a song by Jim Morrison's the Doors(Universal Mind).....the poems are all my words....but I have the songs written in my author comments...your rules say five lines from a song....I rewrote the songs...so....I don't know....if it's okay...then cool...and if not....oh well....thought I'd at least try...either way...if it's not exceptable...but ya have some time....they're titled...."Now I Wish"...and "Worldly Machine"...if you want to read them anyways...and if not....okay....thanks for your time....God Bless..

This contest is a ripoff. I followed every rule in this contest, but all you say who followed the rules were the 3 you chosen. This makes me not want to ever enter a contest ever again. Please inform me which rule that I broken if not I will report this.

First of all, I did follow the rules, excuse me if i forgot to put the link, i do have it, but anyways, I will NEVER enter another one of your contests if you are going to be so stuck up and snobby about it.
All well if you did not read my poem, it was a great poem and all i can say it you missed out...
I agree with Tainted Goddess, this is a ripoff. Do you know how many poems are written for contest but some people forget things to add, does that mean that they are less the worthy of at least reading it...I dont think so and for that matter you are unfair and selfish...
