My first contest!
Right, this is what I want. I want a form of poetry you're not familiar with, and I want the guidelines for that form strictly followed. You can choose from the following poem types:
1) Sonnet
2) Sestina
3) Rondel
4) Villanelle
Here's the twist. If you've got, on your author page, a poem from any of those types, you may not enter that type (if you're in the running, I'll check!). If you have one from all types, or if you feel confident enough, then you must form your own type which is strictly between two or more of these types. If in doubt about this, please read my poem "Journey in the Dark", which mixes the form of a sestina with that of a sonnet. (Try not to follow my style exactly, though, I prefer originality in this case.)
I'm setting no bounds on topics, but the topic should be enhanced by the structure rather than hampered by it. You may use erotica or swear-words, if you wish, but bear in mind that I prefer subtlety and thus blatant erotica or excessive cursing will not put you in my good books.
The contest is for 450 points, where 300 points are for first place and the remainder will be shared out as I see fit.
And I do encourage you to edit your poem until the closing date, since I'm judging mainly on attention to detail, which takes a bit of attention. I'm not judging this contest till it's over!
Rules
1) CHANGING THIS: prewrites are allowed, but it should still be a style you're not too familiar with. Give it a go, anyway. Sometimes the structure inspires the content...
2) If your poem does not fit the style you're attempting, you will not win, so research if you're not sure.
3) Tell me which style you're attempting in your author comments. Or which styles you're mixing.
4) Check spelling and grammar. "U luv th1s" will not make you any friends. If you use text speak, make sure it enhances the poem and fits the structure you've chosen.
Have fun and good luck!
CLOSED: Notes
The contest will be judged tomorrow. Meantime, thanks for all your entries and I hope the contest stretched your imaginations and technical abilities!
I really am impressed by the entries, too!

Well, Re-submitted my poems back to my author's page. Wasn't originally going to, but, I did. So, do you want me to delete it, or delete it anyways because in almost 4 days I'm your only submission?
Oh, and that's because now I have a couple of Sonnets I believe back on my page - I may not. I don't know.

OK, I'll change the rules so that pre-writes can be used. But I reserve the right to check your author pages, to see if you fulfill the criteria...
-
Then I will just have to transfer my piece since i reposted all my pieces back. Oh well, it'll still show on your contest tho.
