OK, folks. Straight to the point:
I really really really really miss my Japanese friend.
I helped to teach her English and we were good friends... GREAT friends! So here's what I want from you:
DO:
1) Something about HISTORIC Japanese culture. You know, white-faced, black-haired, beautifully dressed women sitting under cherry trees with blossoms falling all around, and each holding an amazingly designed fan and their uchikakes (those nice fancy dresses) patterned with blossoms and birds and mountains, waving in the silky wind. That kind of stuff.
2) Describe Japan. In any time period, except future. I want to know what Japan is like.
3) Add a little Japanese in your poem, if you like.
Konnichiwa = hello
Hoshi = star
Kawaii = cute
Neko = cat
Oi! = hey! (heh, love that word, oi!)
And the list goes on here: http://files.pagemac.com/misc/japanese.txt
4) Tell me about the Maneki Neko, if you like, even though I already know the whole story.
5) Write the whole poem in Japanese if you want to
(with translations, of course)
6) Prewrites are OK, as long as you say so some where in the TITLE.
7) Almost forgot, haiku's are a Japanese type poem, right? Give me a poem in a Japanese form, like haiku. (make it about Japan/stuff listed above)
DO ABSOLUTELY NOT:
1) Give me anime
2) Give me poems with anime names, except Sakura. And even then, if you use the name Sakura, make NO connection to card captors. Got it?
3) Give me anything depressing, stoned, smoking, or anything that falls under the catagory of someone shouting "get a room!" I mean, a *little* bit of teenage crush wouldn't hurt. My mom once wathced a Chinese movie with English subtitles about this young girl and guy. It was so cute. Just don't give me deep, mushy, lets-find-a-bed sort of thing.
4) Give me swearing.
Anything else? IM me if you have any questions or anything.

Hope Haikumonk don't come across this contest, we'll be at a total loss. Haiku I'm not good at but I do love them, so I'll maybe add a Haiku and another poem. Japanese simply is the best, their culture's amazing and luckily for me I know quite a bit about them. Lovely contest, I can't wait to enter
-
It seems I'll enter alot of Haiku, my brains been turned on. I've never written the Haiku based on Japanese, perhaps thats what helped me. Still can't wait to enter!
-
I simply love the Japanese culture. I'm going to be going for a study abroad program next summer! Yay! But for now, I'm at a lack of Japanese poetic inspiration, otherwise I would enter.
-
