Fun with Albert

Most of our poets may no longer be breathing but their work lives on and continues to make us laugh. This contest is to make you aware that the Old Poetry Researchers are very much alive and kicking and love to laugh.

Marriott Edgar -oldpoetry.comauthorsMarriott%20Edgar     wrote very funny poems around a central character named 'Albert Ramsbottom'.  We, the Old Poetry Team would like you to read, comment and write us a funny poem in similar style about 'Our Albert'.

Of course the dialect and vernacular used may be 'foreign' to some of you and allowances will be made for this, it's mainly the humour we are looking for.

Criteria

You must read and comment on any of the 'Albert' series of poems and list on your entry the poems read and enjoyed.
Obviously no pre-writes allowed in this contest.
Collaborations accepted.
Winning entries will be judged by the Old Poetry Team.

Good Luck and please have great fun with this.  Pass the news around and perhaps do a collaboration and make it double the fun.

    Excellent

How nice to have a contest for funny poems... and how nice to have links to pay tribute and learn from poets residing in OldPoetry. Like Rhi I can't wait to see what people will do with this and I hope I think of something to do with this too.

I really want to enter this contest. Got the language off but can't think of anything witty and bizarre enough for Albert to do!! I'll rack by brains before the deadline...
But anyways, thanks again for introducing me to Marriot Edgar.

I am enjoying reading and reviewing these entries, Von...seems that I have a developed ear for a Northern accent, and some of these have me howling either way at such attempts, admiring their efforts. At times I think a couple of you went all Cockney-ed on us, but there yah go!

A comprehension of all that is English was fun to watch unfold in most of these as well.

I also enjoyed looking for an understanding and appreciation for the poet, which was as important as the former. I hope the other OPers enjoyed these as much as I did.

Thanks to contestants, I enjoyed this, and thanks to Von and Andrew for creating this contest, it was fun.
