Eddys First Annual SciFi Contest

SciFi contest for 300 Points

I want SciFi writes...
The only restictions I will place on this is it has to be
located in the distant future and no prewrites.
You can write about anything you like in any form you like
as long as the futuristic timeline is followed.

I don't care if you go Star Trek...Star Wars...Dune...
or even Twilight Zone...just amaze me with a read where
I say..."Damn right, that could happen..."

Robot love...Wormholes...Barren Planets...Multi-dimensional space
I don't care...like I said amaze me...I KNOW YOU CAN....

I want so many writes to this that Kevin is forced
to start a SciFi catagory...lol

Then when we get that we'll go after the Fantasy one too...

This is for 300 Points

150 to First Place
100 to Second Place
50 for Third Place

I know I am not the only SciFi lover here so get cracking.
I expect 100 entries by this time next week

StarDate...Tues Dec 2nd 2003 at 5:33 CST
Time is running out
both to enter
and for the future of the planet itself.
Will either of us survive...

Cargo freighter straight ahead
Get prepared to dock
Airlocks sealing now captain
The door is now unlocked
Darkness pours from deep within
And not a sound is heard
What will happen to this crew
I can't say a word....shhhhhh

-Eddy-

HAVE FUN....

THE WHOLE POINT OF CONTESTS IS TO "IMPROVE" YOUR WRITING
You DON'T do that with a "prewritten" poem do you ?
THAT is the reason I am not allowing them on this contest.

Welcome BACK to school...lol

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on December 17, 2003
  • Rewards: Gold: 300
  • Final notes:
    Hi ppls,
I really enjoyed the writes, ALL of them. I wish I could have
giving you all points. Each poem had it's own magic so it
made it very hard on me. I'm glad I didn't have a hundred
    entries now...lol...
Thanks for taking time to enter and keep penning on...

Oo, I have a futuristic story that I'd like to enter! Currently, it's in my brain, but I'm working on putting it down on paper. Since I don't know what style you like to read, I can't tell you if you'd like it, but I HOPE you do! LoL It's kind of exaggerated... Can I still enter it? Let me know, thanks! Great contest idea! VERY unique! Good luck judging those 100 entries!

    The Lakes of Eden

    The Sun warmed my back
    On this late summer afternoon
    I see my long shadow
    caresses the sandy beach
and sweet smell of the lake.

    The stench of burning flesh
    has become a vague memory
of another war for profit gone bad.

    The chemicals unleashed
    in a final desperate attempt
    at annihilation of society
    as we remember it,
failed to be the final solution promised.

    We had won.

    They had gone broke
    and could no longer continue
    The business of War.

    Now everyone of us
    Had the freedom and total
    Independence to be
    All that we could be,
As long as no one impinged
On the small acre of another.

This peace, that came upon all of us
May have had something to do with the inhalations
Of the combined ingredients of the weapons of mass destruction.

They had in fact produced a non-aggressive nature
and the garden of Eden was again a reality
after thousands of years of war and degradation.

I sighed a breath of gentle relief
As I stroked the neck nape of my soul partner.

She gazed softly with loving eyes
of one who was about to give birth

    The thirty-six eyes on top
kept watch for new humanoids to feed on,
as the thirty-six eyes under her breathing snorkel
Looked lovingly at the orange-glow of my genitals
As I settled on the wet rock she had chosen to lay our eggs.

We held arm in arm in arm in arm in arm
As the Greenish sunset slid behind the purple haze of the long night.
