I want a poem telling us which poem andor poet first inspired you to begin writing poetry...or if it just started popping into your head. It must be at least 20 lines, any style and must make the reader 'feel' the emotion which you felt upon writing or reading that first inspiration.
To get an idea of what I'm looking for, you could read my poem "the day it all began".
This contest is open only to new poets who join during August and will be judged by the "Greeters", so come on all you August newbies, make us laugh, make us cry, but don't leave us wondering why
The winner will receive 300 points. 1st runner up.... 150 points and 2nd runner up.... 75 points.

catz: Okay, all you new August members who entered the contest.... this has been hard to judge because you're all winners, you've all done a super job and deserve to win...but... I have to choose just one winner and 2 runners up. Thank goodness for the help of the other greeters. I'm going a lot by their choices. Tribute To Tennyson by Wolfpoet is #1 for 300 points, Changes Cover by ashi #2 for 150 points and Poet Of The Night by Sartor #3 for 75 points. I'm awarding each of the other entries points out of appreciation for their wonderful work. I don't know for sure how many yet, have to see what I have left. Thanks so much all of you :)

This is a very motivating way to get writers to not only keep their writing going, but to realize why it was they initially started. It's definitely a win-win situation, I'm definitely glad I participated.
