Anonymous Liver Donor Saved His Life

BACKGROUND:

Bill H., a friend of mine, received a liver transplant from an anonymous liver donor.  He wanted to write a poem of gratitude for this anonymous donor but gets too emotional.  He gets all teary-eyed & blubbery and stuff.  Bill was close to death when he got his transplant.  He had HCV, was drinking on top of it, and was ready to die an agonizing, alcoholic torture, rather than quit drinking.  The liver disease was going to kill him anyway.  Bill is sober, happy, joyous & free today, thanks to God and the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous.

GENERAL STATEMENT:

Second Chances!

So many times we look back in life and wish for a second chance.

The chance to set something right, the chance to take something back, the chance to do or undo - and often something that is beyond our power to change.

Every now and then life hands us the opportunity to make something right, and not always for ourselves - sometimes for a friend or acquaintance.

A chance to see what you overlooked yesterday, a chance to face what we turned away from, a chance to say what went unsaid.

A second chance at growth and healing.

CRITERIA FOR POEM:

Can you help Bill express his gratitude?

The poem should address gratitude for:

1.  The donor giving Bill a new lease on life (theme).

2.  God's will being done in Bill's life now.
3.  Friends & fellowship.
4.  Alcoholic recovery & a spiritual design for living.
5.  A profound alteration in his reaction to life.
6.  God has all power to restore Bill to sane living.
7.  Repented of what he did wrong in life (had broken heart contrite spirit)
8.  Made amends to people he hurt and admits humbly when he is wrong now.
9.  Now Bill seeks God will by prayer & meditation (God's will, not Bill's).
10.  Serves & loves others in active late-stage chronic alcoholism.

THE ORDER OF THE IDEAS IS IRRELEVANT, BUT THEIR INCLUSION OF EACH OF THE ABOVE IS IMPORTANT.

But the theme/thread, if possible, is that all the good things in life today came from the donor, which is a miracle of God to Bill.

The poem, excluding the title, should have either 12 or 24 stanzas.

THANK YOU FOR THE GIFT OF YOUR TIME.  We get to use time only once.

Enigma Tic: MEGA THANKS to all that contributed to the contest, those who prayed or at least had warm thoughts for the topic, writers, or for Bill's sense of gratitude. I can't believe I missed one of your contests. tsk..tsk . My father's got Alzheimer's and have been very occupied with the family trying to get him relieved of pneumonia. You'd love my father. Krauthead who loves his 2 beers per night, raised us to know Christ by HIS own actions. He walked the talk. I'm hurting badly due to that.

Anyhow, I will love to read the selections. Thank you for being YOU!
