Two Quote Prompt

I thought we might have some fun using either of these quotes.

"He has never been known to use a word that might send a reader to the dictionary." --William Faulkner (about Erniest Hemingway)

"Poor Faulkner, does he really think big emotions come from big words?" --Ernest Hemingway (about William Faulkner)

I will close at my discretion so if you reserve don't take forever to finish

I think many people could learn from Hemmingway.Everyone is so busy trying to use BIG words and lose the raw emotion.

Funny quotes. I aim for a Hemingway style, simple clear and direct. I don't get the point of a poem that is so abstract and personal that no one can make head or tail of it. Still I do admire Faulkner. His prose is more poetic than some peoples poetry. If I had to spend a week or two with one of them I would go with Faulkner, more drinking less macho crap.

    I think ...

a happy medium is more important than either of their viewpoints. However, I'm not up to writing just now.

    Good luck with the contest.

        Actually, Budart ...

is closer to the truth, I suspect, but I think extremes are usually a bad thing, no matter what you are discussing.

I'd try this one myself, but I'm not up to writing just now.

Good luck with the contest in any case.
