The Perfect Lullaby

While I was rocking my little nephew to sleep I came up with this contest idea.

Write a poem to the tune of "Rock-a-bye baby" or to the tune of
"Hush little baby."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rock-a-bye baby

Rock a bye baby in the treetop
when the wind blows the cradle will rock
when the bough breaks, the cradle will fall
and down will come baby cradle and all.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Hush little baby

Hush little baby don't say a word
Mamma's going to buy you a mocking bird
and if that mocking bird won't sing
Mamma's going to buy you a diamond ring.

Etc.
-------------------------------------------------------------

You can add more verses than that to your poem and the lullaby has to be your own version.

For example:

Hush little baby close tired eyes
you're crying and sleepy
and that's no surprise
when the snow falls
you are cuddled more
safe in mommy's arms
you're asleep for sure.
--------------------------------------------------------

That was just my attempt and I know somebody can do better than that.

One winner gets Gold for the perfect lullaby.

The normal AP rules apply.

Just do your best!

Thank you!

Thank you all for the wonderful lullabies. You all did very well. It was hard to pick just one. It came down to two lullabies and i had to decide between the two of them for the Gold.
"Dreamland lullaby" and "Dream little princess."
My little nephew is sleeping right now so the lullaby worked.

Thanks to all for making this a fun contest.
you all did well with the tunes of your lullaby.

    Just for your information:

"Rockabye baby" was not, originally, a "lullabye" - and I cannot imagine any caring mother or nursemaid singing to a child about its cradle falling!

It is a political comment dating from 1688. The "baby" in question was the son of James II of England (James VII of Scotland) whose birth (which seemed to portend the permanent establishment of a Catholic dynasty) lost his father his throne.

it is no coincidence that the melody of "Rock-a-bye baby" is the same as "Lillibulero" - only played twice as slowly - and "Lillibulero" was the marching-song of the Protestant forces under William of Orange who ousted James.
