"Why do you drink, only to wake up with a thumping head?"
Take it where you will.
First.. some background...
My husband of almost 4 years, best friend of almost 6, is an alcoholic, although, he won't admit he has a problem.
He's attending university, doing a bachelor of arts, to proceed to do law, he has an exam to do today.. yet, last night, he was slugging down wine like it was his last night on earth.. only to wake up this morning, feeling lethargic, sick, and obviously, hungover, and won't do anything about getting himself help, and I'm absolutely helpless in that department, because he's stubborn and won't accept help if it's given.
My father, who I haven't seen for a year, is an alcoholic as well.
I've seen him at many stages of intoxication, the early stages, where you can still see straight, but the conversations are very deep, the middle stages, where he calls me a screw up, and the very end stages, where he's seeing double, swaying, and saying he's so proud of me for the way I've grown up, and have raised a family of my own.
Do you know someone who is an alcoholic?
Are you an alcoholic?
Have you seen the devastating effects of alcoholism?
Write about it.
Make me feel your pain, let me see your world through the eyes of an innocent by-stander.
If you can, use the picture with your piece, if not, describe how the picture inspired your piece, and how seeing it made you feel.
Now for the ugly rules (there's always rules)
♥No, and I mean NO pre-writes, I hate them, I won't accept them.
♥If you have to submit something that has rape in it, please label accordingly.
♥Describe how the picture made you feel.
♥Write something gold worthy, I'm putting alot of points towards this, and I expect a good turn-out, so tell ya friends
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 13
- Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 400, Bronze: 400, Honorable mention: 5 people
- Final notes: this was one helluva hard contest to even attempt to judge.
all the writes were very well written, thought provoking, but most of all, what i was looking for the most, was honesty, and all of you who have written about a parent being an alcoholic, or having an alcohol problem yourselves, have portrayed that honesty in such a way that it shook me to my very core, because you absolutely made me see through your eyes, and by entering this contest, you saw through mine.
Thank you all for entering, enjoy your prizes and as the motto says "It works if you work it!"
