unexpectedly, my poem insisted on rhyming so breaks the rules of this contest so I am putting it down here:
Light Walk
To disappear into a picture
To follow a strand of light
To wake up to a morning
Without sleeping through the night
To be the cold, cold water
To float upon a cloud
Feel the pebbles underfoot
Walk the islands’ sandy bough
Light here-captured, smoothed by eye,
Cleansed by dream,
Silence enamored
Of the things that can’t be seen
If there is a ship that’s sailing
To this liquid happy spot
If there is a way of waiting
In this light – delightful thought.
And would I feel its fingers
Wrap its colors in my hair
Would they be translucent
Would they smell of fishy air?
Or soft, like breath of roses
As the artist here has caught
I’ll now extract myself, tread earth
And await the Light of God
jingle -
