  • Final notes:
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the entries into this contest, even though i forced you all out of your comfort zones.

I decided to judge without Hettie for this round - i believe she needs rest more than she needs the stress of grading...so i take full responsibility for my decision and any consequence that occurs as a result of it.

Naridill...you were a clear winner this round by a score margin of 8 whole points ahead of 2nd place. You truly did yourself proud.

Congrats to all of you for another successful la-la...round 10 is posted.

We've lost 2 poets this round and thus, there'll be no eliminations...yayy!!

    well done all!!!

    laura & Pamela.

1 free verse poem of 50 lines in length and a 20-line rap poem.

Does that mean 70 lines in total? And can I mix them together or do you want them both separate. And I know it states two poems - but is it one conjoining poem?

separate poems that relate entirely - 2 poems...so long as i can clearly see 2 poems on the page and know the difference between the 2, you can format them as you wish.

        Rap; hrm.
Oh-tay; I should be able to do this..

  • first, my band screws up our show... fail #1.
i give myself whiplash in the car on the way home... fail #2

first, leave that self-pity shit right here...instruction #1.
then give yourself a fucking break and get real...instruction #2.
      this poem...is a soon-to-be masterpiece #3.

why is today a day to find out that everything you wish to suck at, your mum won't let you/? lol

      • this is why i love you. you even copied my typo... hahahaha.

yep. those typos i call "Laura-isms" (i call many other things the same name too)...we share the same name, so as "Laura-isms" they work equally for us both. When the simple words "i am a poet" fail to work as good excuses, Laura-isms never do.

A quick question about my triple terzanelle before I start writing this weekend....can I write three separate ones on the same subject (like vignettes) with new rhymes or must it be one continuous chain where the rhyme follows through to the next terzanelle? I want to make sure I understand the challenge and that we are on the same page. Liz

you can write three separate ones on the same subject (like vignettes) with new rhymes or it can be one continuous chain where the rhyme follows through to the next terzanelle - the choice is entirely yours...but if formatting like vignettes, please number them so that it's clear to the judges.

i'm no help at all am i?

I have another question (I know I'm a pain in the patootie). I would prefer to format my terzanelles in a nontraditional way - without the divisions between each tercet. Is this acceptable?

Thank you to both judges. This was a difficult round that pushed us to the edge. Congratulations to everyone for a wonderful effort. Peace, Liz

      you're welcome.
These challenges were typical "La-La" challenges, on par with the challenges i've been setting Pamela and Hettie for years. i thought it would be nice for them to read them, instead of being the ones always doing the hardwork. You all produced some good work here.
